So you guys took a step or two back. It wasn't like you recruited on the level of an Alabama. The SEC is loaded, these kids want to play in this league. Auburn will be back, I believe when Gus has the right pieces in place, he knows what to do with it.

A standard SEC head coach contract should read:

1. 2 million base pay
2. Win 7 games minimum: contact renewed or 8 million buyout
3. Bonus structure:
a. Nattie: 10 million
b. SEC championship: 5 million
C. Division champs: 2 million.

Everyone laugh at Auburn right now.
nope, we did not do this contract, and some of us have known all along that coach doublebubble was a college football fraud...no hard feelings toward him, he found a rich sucker and an idiot president and took advantage of a one-sided deal....there was a bunch, and i mean multitudes that wanted him to go to arkanass, except there was no real interest from them, except for a small contingent in NW arkanass...the sad part is that the guy could be a very good coach except for his inability adapt and adjust...one trick pony....19 days until basketball season

I actually like that structure.

Very good comment.

Let me introduce you to this guy

*Was the last AD in the SEC to spring for a IPF

*We were the last of the big 6 to hire "analyst" to our
staff

*CMR had to pay extra funds to his assts out of his own pocket

*Sits on a $80 million "reserve fund" for the AD

He FINALLY opened up the purse strings when he hired
CKS because he knew it was the only way he'd accept the
job.

But, the next time anyone in the SEC tries to offer a coach millions upon millions of dollars to do an unpredictable job...at least be clear about the circumstances of not fulfilling your obligations that were "promised."
What did Gus "promise" other than he wouldn't take the Arky job if AU would OVERPAY him and guarantee the contract?

I'm sure you felt this way before the season started and told your administration this shortly after Gus signed his contract.

Interesting. When Auburn is winning it is "we". When they are losing it is "They".

I sympathize with UGA's struggles.

Making a good business decision is hard. But necessary.

Maybe Auburn can think more logically going forward.

Mcgarity wouldn't have lasted 18 months at AU...you simply wouldn't have put up with an AD that put you at
a competitive disadvantage.

CFB is driven by emotion and many of the hirings and firings reflect that.It just the way it is and if big time donors wanna cough up funds for these decisions so
be it.

I agree. But, I busted my arse off at Auburn for a degree for four long years. I paid $47,000 for a degree out of my own pocket.

frick the rich-arse donors.

I am paid every single day for production.

I certainly understand the importance of a College Football Coach.

But, why does that millionaire care for, or value, his job outside of a guaranteed contract whether he fails or wins?

He is guaranteed everything for nothing.

There is nothing wrong with making them earn their pay.

They're paying the bonuses and buyouts...they really don't care what you think

Agreed but its not how things work in CFB...it's a high
stakes world and for better or worse EVERYBODY is chasing the Saban standard and millions are being thrown out there
