Not defending them commies, but there are more appealing activities to do in California than most other states combined. Also, the state has 18 professional teams (LA alone has ten major league teams).

It is an old excuse that in California there is so much to do that college baseball is way down the totem pole.

The truth is that fans in California don’t care about college baseball or college sports in general. The state does produce a lot of high school talent across the board but the fan support is weak and in general people don’t care.

It has nothing to do with entertainment options. We have plenty of entertainment options in the SEC even in the smaller college towns. But people choose to support their college teams and are passionate about it.
California is a great state and there is much innovation in the state with new products/services etc. But when it comes to college sports (baseball in particular) there is just plain apathy.

It is sad that Florida doesn't play football any more!

Ole Miss on the brain. Shocker

Mostly is just about your culture of bullshite.

I'll do a thread about it with an aerial pic soon.

I don't say that about State or LSU. Their baseball stadiums actually have the ability to seat the numbers they claim.

It's easy to spot. I'm dubious if Ole Miss has ever had a baseball crowd over 9,000. Your stadium simply doesn't have the capacity.

Don't worry. I'll prove it.

For years, you've been bleeding all over this message board about Ole Miss/Oxford, even when Ole Miss/Oxford aren't the subject of a thread or a post. It's strange.

It is an interesting subject.

What is it about the Ole Miss inferiority complex that makes exaggerating and lying such a fundamental part of the identity?

I find it fascinating, honestly.

I distinctly remember you posting something along these lines in 2014. That was a long time ago. Time to let it go.

CORRECTION: it was 2015. You were bleeding all over tRant about Oxford and Ole Miss then, and you're still doing it now.

Why tho, bro?

Also, we are still waiting on your engineering and architectural analysis of Swayze Field.

There is no way this is true.

299 teams compete in D1 baseball and only 60 in D1 hockey plus ESPN is also paying broadcast fees for the CWS.

It is true. I've been telling this board for years college hockey is bigger than college baseball and I don't like either sport. Wisconsin can bring in 18k each hockey game, along with other top tier hockey programs.

It doesn't take much to see how much your numbers are exaggerated. The question is why do you do it? The obvious answer is to try to keep up with State.

If you guys claimed 9500 attendance (which would still require claiming 3,500 fans in the outfield, which isn't possible at Swayze), it might pass.

Claiming 12k fans is so absurd, you might as well just claim 15k. Go for broke.

Anyway, I understood your numbers were inflated just by seeing pictures of the stadiums claiming 11-12k fans.

Last year during the Arkansas series, my Ole Miss acquaintances were sharing an aerial taken from the outfield. You can see the terraces, count the rows, and even see how many people are sitting in each row. (There's also a great view of the disused tennis courts you guys plopped your retaining walls down on, and the student section Port-a-Shitters you have out there)

Your student section max capacity is around 1,200. The general admission side, maybe 1,000.

That puts a record crowd at Swayze in the 8,200-8,500 range, with SRO in the grandstand maxxed out.

It's interesting.

I'll make a nice thread about it sometime soon. You'll say I'm obsessed. Maybe I am. But that doesn't change math.

yall are missing the obvious here...college hockey is NOT bigger than college baseball. if there are only 60 teams participating in college hockey, the AVERAGE isn't very difficult to maintain. College baseball doesn't have 60 teams participating...there are 300. Alcorn, New Jersey Tech, UMass Lowell, Bellarmine, High Point, Longwood, Purdue Fort Wayne, Canisius, Fairfiled, Ole Miss, i could go on-and-on....all teams that are insignificant to College Baseball.

The Average is being diluted by the ocean of teams not serious about the sport and insignificant teams. what would average revenue of NCAA hockey look like if 300 NCAA teams played it?

Well? Are you gonna post the pictures and count the heads or just speculate?

Yes. I will. Later on. I will need to do some diagramming for the thread.

In the meantime, you can find the pic somewhere here. Four sections in the student section. Different sizes. Being generous, the largest one on the left has a max capacity under 500. The other three are smaller.

The spacing is bigger and more organized in left field.

I'll draw it up for you soon.

Yes, please draw it up for me soon. I’m gonna need you to count every head in the ballpark and make some estimates for attendees who are in the restroom or getting concessions (or otherwise away from their seats). What about those in the boxes you can’t see? What about all those standing under tents in left field? Gotta account for them too.

I’m also going to need to see the exact time your pictures used in your analysis were taken. What inning? What pitch? Crowds can fluctuate throughout a game, as I’m sure you’re aware.

Make sure to number every head too. Show your work!

Make it happen! Count ‘em up!
