I am in NO WAY saying that it would be LSU BUT should the 2nd place West team practice/prepare for the SECCG the week after the last regular games in the event (unlikely I'm sure) that AU is not able/allowed to participate in the SECCG???

Again, I'm not saying that it'll be us ... still too much football to be played!

No but they usually are taking exams and what not ... with little to no preps from what I've heard in past years.

No one is practicing for the bowl game the Monday after the regular season ends. Each team only gets x number of practices (I think it's 15), so most teams would probably take a week to a week and a half off before starting bowl practices.

This issue will have to be resolved one way or the other before then just to keep this from occurring.

OK ... how about this.

AU PLAYS & WINS SECCG. Set for BCS. BETWEEN the SECCG and the BCS title game, shite comes out and decisions are made ... AU is out due to Cam being ineligible.

WTF happens then???

And no I'm not kidding and again, I'm not saying it's LSU that's in.

I don't know why though...you lose in the SECCG and 4 teams in the West may get better bowls

rumor is the SEC is debating on taking a "standby" SEC West team to Atlanta...

SEC East team staying at Atlanta Hilton

SEC West team staying at Omni CNN Center.

SEC West standby team staying at Westin Peachtree.

So the SEC has a backup plan and NO didn't for Katrina ... that's sad.

Anyway, thanks for that info. But say AU plays & wins SECCG and THEN is declared ineligible for the BCS title game. What the hell then??? Just take the #3 ranked team???

Man if that happens the whole entire bowl season could be funky screwed up.

Of course you were, I'm guessing you started looking ahead at halftime once the game had been decided.

I'd guess that they'd have to have the voters revote and then have the computers run their rankings again, then recalculate the BCS standings. I don't see any other way to do it.

I still say that because of all the post-season implications, the NCAA is going to move on this before the end of the regular season or you won't have a final judgement until sometime after the bowl season. Think of the fall out that would occur just from one team being declared ineligible, then having all of the other teams re-slotted in all the different bowl games. Fans would have already made travel plans and booked tickets, teams would have started breaking down opponent's film...it would be a logistical nightmare for at least 15-20 different universities.

Good point. I'm with ya... If we haven't heard anything by the SECCG, then we won't hear anything til after the bowl season is over.

That's exactly what I just told my husband. Can you imagine "sorry X TEAM ... you're now going to the X BOWL ...".

I truly don't want someone NOT deserving of "punishment" punished but this whole thing stinks.

Someone is gonna pay dearly ... perhaps AU, perhaps the Newtons, the media for irresponsible reporting ... someone.
