Does NIL validate player criticisms?

I know on other boards if you openly criticize a player your posts will get locked/banned etc. Idea is that the player is a amateur and that they shouldn't be the target. With NIL and players pulling in 7 figures a year.. that's no longer a amateur on the field. Does the idea that the kids are protected now go away? Should we expect freshman to do interviews and players to be held accountable for their performance?

Interesting question. SCOTUS said that they are young adults and via the popularity of the sport and their skill, many will be millionaires. I think that qaulifies them as professional and therefore, they should be held to professional standards. The ones that are banking, that is.

I mean if a player sucks, I don't see as to posting that fact on as message board should be off limits...

I mean let's take the UGA VS UF game a few years ago when a guy named Bauta (I think) started for the DaWGs at QB, and was fukkin garbage, and I would post that fact on any MB, no matter if he had a NIL deal or not.

That's not off limits. I'll give an example and hope it doesn't highjack the thread. Tua's injuries, many were offended by the term "glass Tua" and making fun of his injuries, because he was an ameteur athlete at the time. It is most certainly fair to question a player's durability in the pros and during the draft process. Well, had he been making 7 figures a year, does it make it fair, since he has now moved onto to an investment for some companies. I think yes. Now we are on the business side. In order for somebody to invest 7 figures, they would want a return. He can't very well do that on the sidelines leaning against his crutches.

It should. If they want to get paid (And the players pushed hard feeling they deserved it) then they should be prepared to take what goes with it. You can't expect to get all the good and be protected from the bad.

Do all home boards lock threads like that? I don't recall TexAgs locking threads when people rightfully pointed out Calzada was a pick machine. It's just a statistical fact he wasn't that good.

Usually the stuff that gets locked down is when folks start to get personal with it, or attack their family or character, which honestly should be offlimits on any board.

Players should always be open to criticism. If they are:

-Getting a free education
-Willing to accept any accolades and credit for good performance
-Now accepting money for endorsements for NIL

Notice I said criticism and not personal attacks. In any sports world their will be pieces of shite sitting in their mom's basement that want to trash somebody for doing a 100x better job than they could ever do. Part of being a great athlete is tuning those people out and proving them wrong.

Ours doesn't. We had a couple of trolls trolling hard about Bennett all year long. It was pretty heated for awhile.

That said, one of the trolls is a suspected LSU poster that is well known for trolling Bama fans pretty hard and posting gifs/memes.

NIL makes them no longer an amateur. The words student athletes has less meaning when they take money. That puts them in the status of a semi pro player. That means they no longer should be shielded but treated as any employee in the workplace.
