You don't have a clue what Mike Shula "left" Nick Saban to work with. Not a clue.
I've had this argument before- Shula left Saban 7 draft picks and other guys that signed as NFL FA's that played on that 2009 team.
Shula was 16-8 the two years before Saban got the job. To act like Saban inherited a mess is just horseshite

Even the 2009 NC team was littered with Shula recruits.
And none of them would have been as good as they were if not for Saban. Take Javier Arenas and Mike Johnson for example, two of our six All-Americans on that team. When Saban got to Alabama in 2007, Mike Johnson was a backup offensive lineman, was failing hard at school, and was on the verge of dropping out/transferring. Saban MOLDED him into the player he became. It had nothing to do with Shula and had everything to do with Saban.
The same can be said for Javier Arenas. Javy was recruited to Alabama to play RB. He never saw the field at that position and, if not for his two punt returns for touchdowns against Florida International and Oklahoma State in 2006, no one would have ever known his name. Javy was considering leaving the program when Saban was hired. Saban convinced Javy to stay, took him off the offense, and placed him at CB. Within two years, Javier Arenas was an All-American defensive back.

It's pointless arguing with the ignorant. You simply don't have a clue about what was going on under the surface with Nick Saban arrived.

As has been highlighted above, with the exception of Andre Smith, none of those "draft picks" would have been draft picks if not for Nick Saban.

10 of those 16 wins were due to the '05 defense. The vast majority of those players were recruited by Fran in 2001 and 2002. Shula also was hands off when it came to the defense. All credit for their performance in '05 has to go to Joe Kines and his defensive assistant coaches.

Yeah...I would think it does. I wasn't arguing that Mullen wasn't a good coach.

Yep, and the charges were dropped. Apparently it is legal to carry a pistol in your glove box in Florida.

2005 10-2
2006 6-7

Oh...I realize it can be done - but only if we show up sleepwalking. If Alabama shows up motivated and ready to play against MSU, you have no chance.
I see you are already preparing an excuse, that's worse than a moral victory.

did Shula coach the bowl game?

Croom left MSU in better shape for Merlins. Saban did coach up what Shula left.
You are fricking high. Nutt left Ole Miss in better shape for Freeze than Croom did for Mullen.

Nope. Joe "Crazy Eyes" Kines did. Shula's team, tho. BTW, that 2007 Bama team lost no game by more than 7 points.

On the other hand, Tennessee was never in its game against Alabama at Neyland Stadium.
Right. A surefire TD pass dropped by Hunter with seconds to go in the half that would have pulled Tennessee to within 3 is "never in the game."

If Alabama wins big, we will all hear about how overrated Mississippi's taint is. If Mississippi's taint wins, then we will all hear about how great the Gods of Ms. St. are. If Alabama Barely wins then we will hear about how we got exposed. Thank God Alabama doesn't have to play against ignorant fans, or we would lose every time. Roll Tide.

I edited. I do not feel like arguing with idiots today, especially Ole Miss fans that are consumed by MSU and Bama fans that we shouldn't even show up. I saw a Utah team with no 4 or 5 stars beat the ever more dog shite out of a very talented Bama team loaded with 5 stars. I guess they didn't get the memo that you have to be highly ranked in recruiting to win.
