Your numbers about Confederate and Union troops don't tell it all.

Over 30,000 foreign born (mostly German) men that settled in Missouri fought for the Union.

In comparison to the other Confederate states, Missouri had a larger percentage of first generation northern and foreign settlers.

Many Missouri men who fought for the Confederate cause were not official soldiers, but guerrillas.

I'm not saying we weren't a split state, but it's a lot closer than how you're portraying it.

At one time Missouri had two acting governments. That doesn't happen if you're hands down a yankee state.

The first Confederate capitol of Jackson army was in Missouri, that doesn't happen if you're a hands down yankee state.

You have to consider these things, if you don't your just being ignorant. I'm not saying we weren't a split sate, I'm saying there is more to it.

Why does Arkansas target Missouri on this topic harder than anyone else, it's bizarre.

Arkansas is more like Missouri than any of the states it borders (this is unquestionable, it's truth). The Ozark is our link, it's a melting pot of our two states. Yes Arkansas is more southern than Missouri, but we're also a lot alike.

And those that said Fayetteville and Arkansas aren't really southern are wrong. It's just a different part of the south than Baton Rouge.

Just like Madison Wisconsin is the north, but a different part of the north than Escanaba Michigan (The U.P).

You Arky's read the Oxford American? Great southern magazine out of Arkansas. LINK /

Fixed the 'no message' that was up when you responded with your battle ship. Got anything for what is written there now?

I don't know how this has evolved into state-by-state, I started by Fay vs Columbia. But I think this map is pretty accurate. Interstate 44 is a pretty good divider in MO.

Interesting how for some Missouri fans, Missouri is southern but Arkansas isn't. No one has brought up any evidence for Columbia being southern, though...

Porker would you like to say anything about the post on the top the page?

Your maps that take up an entire page are childish.

Porker, did anyone on here say Columbia was a southern town? I guess I missed that.

However, Columbia isn't northern by any means.

You do realize there's as big of a difference between midwestern and northern as there is between southern and northern.

Whether or not we're southern doesn't matter. Mizzou's in the SEC. Period. We're here. Deal with it.

This is what I said on page 6. Try to keep up

I'm assuming that the fact that both of our football teams suck is driving the discussion into wether Missouri is southern for the 877284th time.

Here's my opinion. It's not 1865. Who gives a frick. People from the south have since moved to the north and vice versa. Do you think people from Arkansas walk up to people that have moved to Arkansas from Missouri and say, "You're not southern." Of course not. Do you know why?

BECAUSE NO ONE ELSE GIVES A shite.

I'm just glad this thread didn't totally devolve into name calling and shite throwing. Killz your post on the last page was awesome.

Porker I don't know if you're talking about me arguing that Arkansas isn't southern because that's not what I was trying to do. As a state Arkansas is definitely more southern but I feel like nwa and Columbia have a lot in common, but neither are antebellum civil war southern. Either way can't wait to play uncle mike again in bball, he will not get a warm welcome in como I have a feeling.

Guess who this quote is from? Hint, this person started a thread about people from Missouri saying y'all being "posers"...

I would be willing to bet this person cares since it was one of the first threads this person ever started...

I don't think Missouri is southern, dude. Notice, how I'm not on here arguing about it. I do think Missouri is just as backwoods country redneck as the south is, so I guess we could all be proud of that.

I just don't think any of this matters when talking about Missouri being in the SEC. However if you guys want to argue about it by all means...

Oh, come on. Y'all are the new kids looking for a fist fight with your neighbor. Arkansas beat #6 Missouri by over 60 points in basketball while we were ranked #1 when we opened Bud Walton. We beat y'all in the Cotton Bowl and y'all beat us once. Our history dominates in all sports but we entertain it because y'all are the new northern neighbors no longer is it just Kentucky.

Missouri became good recruiting Texas. Arkansas lost it's Texas pipeline but still went to Atlanta 3 times and BCS bowl can Missouri accomplish this without Texas recruits? I'm waiting to see because the Kentucky business model is starring Mizzou in the face.

Correct. Have you been to Knoxville? It is Fayetteville. Have you been to Little Rock? It is Jackson, MS.

I have a close friend from outside of Kansas City and she loves Mizzou. I've heard great things about Columbia but remember for over 100 years Arkansas has played north of Kentucky less than 5 times, ever. It will be new and fun.

I don't think you read anything anyone actually posts. I just fricking said I don't think we're southern, and I also said it didn't matter. The post I made in this thread was complete sarcasm, so obviously, you either didn't actually read it, or you are too stupid to understand satire.

Also, what does my second ever thread have to do with Missouri regretting joining the SEC?

I don't know how rusty your reading comprehension skills are, but they apparently need some work. It is pretty clear we aren't talking about that anymore. It is safe to assume by page 10 a thread has changed topic. We are talking about the culture of Fayetteville, Columbia, MO, AR, and how they compare. If you have something to add, please post it. Otherwise, kindly GTFO

You're the stupid frick that brought up that thread.

frick man, you're just retarded for the sake of being retarded. Why don't you GTFO? You're a complete arse jacket who posts in EVERY thread that has Mizzou in the title, you have a raging hard on for all things Missouri. In fact if Missouri had a dick, you would suck it anytime you could.

You sir, are Missouri's bitch.

I like these stupid cultural fit threads.

Columbia, St. Louis and KC are not Southern.

I've spent time in Fort Smith and Little Rock - not Southern if compared to Mobile, AL, Houma, LA, or Savannah, GA. I've never felt like anywhere in Florida felt southern. I don't notice much cultural difference between Kansas City and Atlanta, except for speech pattern - but I get that in southeast Missouri too. Most major cities are too diverse to categorize.

In terms of rural culture, Missouri is very similar to the south. Missouri is the home of Bass Pro Shops.

BBQ? Missouri is home to the KCBS and American Royal. Most BBQ joints everywhere suck compared to Q made at home by folks who know BBQ - maybe that's why Missouri is lacking in restaurants - we have more doing it better themselves.

Civil War - beat to death.

Whoever said the corridor between I-70 and I-40 are very similar culturally nailed it. Except when you get into the St. Louis and Memphis spheres of influence.
