But waiting another year only saves them $7m ... SECN revenue is like $100m a school per year, or something ridiculous like that, plus their own revenue, it's really not going to break them.
Revenue is high but so are their expenses. In 2017-2018, Auburn Athletics had a revenue of about $146 million, but only 7.8 million in net profit.
Auburn Athletics received ~$7.6 million from the school in student fees and direct funding in 2018. That is up from ~$6.4 million in 2014. Yet, the payback to the University from Athletic revenue was only $2.4 million in 2018.
I'm certain they could raise funds to do it or readjust their budget, but their Ath Dept doesn't have $17.5 million to be paid within 30 days of firing him just laying around unaccounted for.

There is no way in hell that Auburn wins in Death Valley with a freshman Quarterback.

In all seriousness, he shouldn’t get fired for 8-4 or better. Freshman QB and ridiculously difficult schedule.
It’s his own fault he’s down to a freshman QB and has never developed one from HS to success in college.

I could see him in trouble if we are not competitive in our remaining 3 big games, if we lost respectably he'll prob get a pass
Agreed.
If Auburn gets absolutely spanked in their remaining big games... yeah I could maybe see it.
It would continue the odd parallels with Houston Nutt if nothing else. Nutt was also shoved out the door (he "resigned" to get a very nice golden parachute package offered to him) after an 8-4 season.
The thing is, maybe you hit the jackpot when you can Gus and get a great coach to replace him. Or maybe you discover that you just hired Chad Morris 2.0 or the second coming of Joe Moorehead.
Trust me, there comes a time when 7-8 win seasons and a shot at the SEC championship every 4 years starts to look really good.

Yep. As frustrating as Gus can be, it could be a hell of a lot worse

So kinda, appreciate what you’ve got in a HC that averages 4-5 loses a year ‘cause you could end up like UT/Arky/OM. Although Auburn has never fallen to those levels in the last 50 yrs, even with Dye/Bowden/Tubs/Chiz/Malzhan. AU is almost guaranteed to have at least one super season no matter who they hire.

Yep. Auburn has made mediocre coaches look good. It’s time to find a good coach, and take it to the next level.

Which one, the 4-wheeler trailer, boat trailer or travel trailer that’s at my camp? Oh, I forgot the utility trailer that the four wheeler trailer took the place of and I use now around the yard.
You know how we know you don’t own any of these things.
