You don't get how rivalries work do you
Posted on 1/4/18 at 2:43 pm to diddlydawg7
Id say for Auburn
1. UA/UGA
3. UF
4. Clemson/Ga Tech
People like to include LSU as well

For me...
In terms of wanting to beat..
1) UF
2) AU
3) Tech
in terms of hating to lose against...
1) Tech
2) AU
3) UF
It's this way due to our success against Tech and AU and lack of success against UF.

It was pretty intense in the 80's vs Clemson.Right up there with any rivalry in the country.

some, but very few
older Dawgs have GA Tech # 1
younger Dawgs have Florida # 1
MOST Dawgs have Auburn # 2
not very many have Tennessee in the top 4 TBH - hell, most would not put them top 5
South Carolina or Clemson would be in our # 4 spot ahead of Tennessee for most Georgia fans
Southeast GA Dawgs and just about everyone in Augusta has South Carolina as #1 or maybe # 2 behind Florida
tell me what you think of LSU rivals
in my mind:
Ole Miss
Bama
Texas A&M
Arkansas
Tulane (for older Tigers)
Bama, because of the Saban deal & recent history
maybe some would put Auburn or Florida on there, but my guess is that's a lot like us and Tennessee - a "forced" rivalry

You can't count teams in the same division where the rivalry is basically "we're usually jockeying for the top so our games mean something." If I wanted, I'd call USC, UK, and UT our Full Rivals because we usually just want not to be last again and those are the programs we're trying to get ahead of. Add in our permanant cross-division and we're tied with you.

I think the problem with this is that they have to claim us as a rival also...which only Ole Miss does. Maybe Auburn did 10 years ago during the mid 2000's.
So what. Texas A&M, Arkansas, and Louisiana Lafayette claim LSU as their rival from their side and we don’t claim these schools as our rival.

Notre Dame has quite a few.

Georgia-Tennessee is not really a "rivalry" IMO. It's one of our more important games, but not a rivalry.
I think the term "rivalry" gets tossed around a bit too often. I think these are the only real "rivalries" that exist in the SEC, ranked by intensity and importance:
1. Alabama vs. Auburn
2. Georgia vs. Florida
3. Georgia vs. Auburn
4. Alabama vs. Tennessee
5. Alabama vs. LSU
6. Ole Miss vs. Mississippi State
7. Florida vs. Tennessee
Others considered but not really rivalries:
Georgia vs. Tennessee- This game has very little history. Between 1926 and 1991, the two teams only met 10 times, averaging a meeting every 6.6 seasons. And with Tennessee being down for over a decade now, it doesn't have a ton of importance.
Auburn vs. LSU- This is one of the better annual games played, but I'm not sure its quite a "rivalry."
Arkansas, South Carolina, Texas A&M, and Mizzou have not been in the SEC long enough to have a real rivalry anyone cares about. Sure you've got Arky and LSU playing for a huge boot, but that game barely ever has any meaning. When have the two teams ever squared off with the Champion of the boot heading on to Atlanta to represent the SEC West?.... its happened maybe once. Ever. 2002 maybe?
The Tennessee game may be a "rivalry" to Kentucky and Vanderbilt, but its not to anyone else.... its questionable whether it really means anything to Tennessee.

Abbreviated it is FAGTT... I'll allow it.

I think since GT hired PJ, this has been my personal order, but I know there are plenty that would put it GT, UF, AU, [next team probably depends on where you live...]

Georgia only has three rivals and they are ranked as follows: 1. Florida 2. Auburn 3. Georgia Tech.
I hate Tennessee but they are not our rivals. We cannot be rivals with everyone in the SEC East. And prior to 1992, we honestly didn't play Tennessee that often. I hate Tennessee more than I hate Georgia Tech but Tech is a rivalry that has been played for 100 years. Just because you dislike a team doesn't automatically mean they are your rival.

Auburn ahead of Tech?
Our younger fans tend to have FSU as our #1 rival. I try to educate them when I can.

He's not only wrong, he's an idiot. Tech has been our biggest rival over 100 years and nothing is changing that.

You're an old sack of shite. I hardly care about Tech at all. They aren't a threat. From the time I was 11 until the time I was 19 we never lost to them. They don't challenge us for in-state recruits the way Auburn does. You're a fool.
