Just admit that the real reason for your contempt is not 'character' issues but that you're butthurt that the coach who took you to the promised land for the first time in damn near fifty years is now at another team whipping your butt

Except he isn't whipping our butt, Dick Burleson is

Save the "whipping your butt" comments for the Auburn fans. You know damn well the last two games were absolute wars and I'm quite sure you had a near heart attack both times.

No, my contempt comes from the fact that he would come back to the SECW to compete against the school that gave him the opportunity to be the name that he is in this sport (he was nick saban when he came to LSU, but was NICK SABAN when he left) and make the kind of money that he makes (His deals with Miami and Alabama were both based on what he did at LSU).
I think your contempt comes from the fact that you are a huge douchebag, but that isn't my point. Where would you have had Saban go? Which of these schools do you think Saban should have gone to instead of Alabama? Tulsa? Rice? Idaho?
It's a business. The only reason people try to place value on loyalty in college football is because you project your own love for your school onto someone else.

Coming from you that means I'm on the right track.

i understand that, that's why I respect the coaches who have done that more than the ones who haven't.

So, do you hate Spurrier? Do you harbor an unhealthy amount of hatred for him? Because he did the exact same thing Saban did.

I don't think it is possible for me to have hated Spurrier anymore than I already did before he went to South Carolina. Yes, it was an equally douche move, made slightly less worse because it's South Carolina. Had he gone to UT or UGA I would say it's even worse than Saban consdering ge went to Florida. But to answer your question, yes I despise Spurrier.
And to answer your previous question I would have either stayed at Miami or taken a year off and reevaluated in 2007.

Exactly and the only reason no one hates Spurrier is because he is not winning. Nick Saban owes LSU nothing, and if he leaves here(which I will hate to happen)he will owe us nothing. We wanted to win a championship and wanted our team to at least be in the running each year, and he has done that. If he left tomorrow, we would have to say that he left us better than it was when he got here. We don't own the man, and he was hired to do a job, and I don't know of anyone who puts in more hours or works harder to accomplish this than he does. That is all anyone can expect of an employee, and since he has no connections to Bama, really that is what he is. Why should he have loyalty to us? If he were losing for a few years, we wouldn't have loyalty to him. If we would do what we did to Mike Shula, we would certainly do it to an outsider. I believe in letting the man do his job as long as he wants to do it, and as long as he does it well.

So you wouldn't be irritated at all if he split then ended up at Auburn it UT in 2 years?

Really. It was LSU that gave him his shot? I thought he came to a school that had been nothing short of pathetic in the 90's, and gave them two SEC titles and their first national title in almost 50 YEARS. But it was LSU who gave him a shot? How bout this: It was Nick Saban that made LSU a national name again. Nick Saban be appreciative to LSU? How bout LSU be appreciative to Nick Saban.

Chavis coached at Tennessee
Frank Wilson coached at for Ole Miss and Tennessee
Ron Cooper coached at Miss St. and USCe
Ensminger coached at Georgia and Auburn
Billy Gonzales left Florida for LSU (OMG WHAT A DOUCHE MOVE!!!!!)
Brick Haley was a G.A. at Arkansas and a coach at Miss St.
These guys bounce around depending on money and other issues.
How can you hate Saban for what he did but not think Billy Gonzales is bad for going directly from a rival you play every year?

Bama > all other SEC teams. He's at the pinnacle. He won't leave for another SEC team. He'd have to be stupid.. like Bill Curry.

Fair enough about Spurrier. I never cared much for Stevie either. But, the only two jobs that opened up after 2007 that Saban would have even considered were Michigan and Nebraska. And while there is a chance he could have gotten either, there is no guarantee. Why should he have to stay at a job (the Dolphins) he isn't enjoying? So some LSU fans don't get upset? Excuse him for making a career move without consulting you. There are only 1 or 2, at the most, good jobs that become available every year. You have to take the opportunities as they come. He didn't want to take a year off, and he took the best job that was open.

#1 We didn't fire Mac.
#2 I didnt hate Saban any more or less than I did when he took the Bama job. Had he failed I would have been happy that justice was served but it would not affect my opinion of the man.
#3 If Florida fans want to be pissed at Billy G that's fine, I won't try to tell them differently. I know Urban was plenty upset about it.

Nick Saban was a "mediocre big ten coach carpettbagger who won't be able to cut it in the SEC" according to Bana fans when he arrived at LSU. He certianly did a lot and I do appreciate that but LSU made him just as much as he made LSU

His work ethic made him.

No, just out of loyalty and respect for the institution that gave him the opportunity to become what he became. That's honestly what I would have done, regardless of the school in question. The one exception is if it's you're alma matter.
