whatever they’re doing it’s not slowing down mighty bama, that’s for sure.

As for OU, the last year of LiaR we had a 66% Blue chip ratio of recruits.
Looking at this chart focus on the Blue Chip improvement to 73%. We announced SEC the last year LiaR was here and all of BV classes was known we were headed here. Many recruits have mentioned this as one reason to pick OU.

quote:Bad take. Texas HS talent, DFW in particular, is the lifeblood of their program.
And still in Oklahoma which is a draw to 0 kids in Texas

OU has benefited greatly from dominating the Big 12 over the last 20 years.
Do you know what OUs recruiting rankings would be from the 50s-80s? Top 5 more often than not. I mean Marcus Dupree and Troy Aikman chose OU before the big 12. OU always pays more $ than 98% of CFB programs. The big 12 doesn’t mean shite, oil money does, just like it does for A&M and Texas. IF needed, OU can out spend nearly every sec team outside of UGA, FL, and the Texas schools. Bama has nowhere near the big money OU does but money doesn’t always equal winning.

Initially it will help.. I think OU needs to be careful about how they approach recruiting and their on field success for the next few odd years.
As a worst case they risk suffering a similar fate to Nebraska

OU has been the nation’s leader in offensive innovation for 3 decades.
Longer than that. OU under Bud Wilkerson help develop the forward pass, as it was only a gimick before that, (and the 3-4 defense). Barry Switzer perfected the wishbone. OU under Bob Stoops was the first program to win the National Title using the spread offense (which is in your time frame). Lincoln Riley saw our tradition of elite OL and incorporated a wide variety of counters with play action off of it and set records yearly.

How could it not help recruiting?

Worst case for OU is more like modern Penn St. Competitive, in the hunt, but a notch below the real title contenders. Not saying that will happen, but that would be my fear with a much harder schedule and a history of not quite stacking up to the better SEC teams the last decade.
