Seriously, how hard is it for you to comprehend the NCAA's own words?
1997
quote:
--Provided cash to nine prospective student-athletes on numerous occasions.
--Purchased meals for five prospective student-athletes.
--Paid for or provided cash for five prospective student-athletes to attend the university’s football camp, including airline tickets, ground transportation, spending money and camp fees.
--Paid for or provided cash for three prospective student-athletes to visit the institution’s campus, including airline transportation, lodging, meals and spending money. As a result of this visit, one of the prospective student-athletes later exceeded the permissible number of official visits.
From August 1994 to January 1995, the representative provided extra benefits to a walk-on student-athlete when he paid at least $7,000 for tuition, room, board and spending money.
1985
quote:
In December 1982, a representative of the university's athletics interests assisted a student-athlete in obtaining a bank loan for a limited amount of money to purchase a used 1975 automobile; further, the student-athlete failed to make required payments on the loan and the representative gave the student-athlete cash to pay a portion of the debt and later paid the balance of the loan on behalf of the student-athlete;
1978
quote:
The violations, which were initially reported to the NCAA by the university primarily involved personal loans and gifts of small amounts of cash to seven student-athletes (basketball and football players) from a former member of the university's basketball coaching staff.

I know his nephew. Their story has always been that his dad was a bootlegger and bought the boat and air conditioner but due to his occupation obviously couldn't prove that he had the means. Bryant knew that and it's why they chose him to make a complaint to the NCAA. They admit that he did take money but what he received from Auburn wasn't as much as Alabama and Georgia offered. He chose Auburn because he wanted to be a park ranger after football and we had a forestry program that the other 2 didin't offer. The older alumni here still get angry any time any of it is brought up. They really don't care for Bryant to put it lightly.
I've cc'd the NCAA and Bryant Gumbal on this
