Because of this rivalry, I won't be watching LSU play in Athens and Columbia for a decade.
No, that's because some of our member institutions were pathetic enough to block a 9 game conference schedule.
This. Not to mention the fact that we had to go and invite a couple of poor step kids to come play in our league.

So basically what you are saying is you are new to college football and don't understand that the rivalry between Alabama and Tennessee has almost always been extremely streaky.

UT would have to win occasionally for it to be hatred any more. Bama just shows up, whips that arse, and moves on.
As we did with Auburn in the seventies, yet it didn't stop us from hating Auburn with every fiber of our being.

Bama wants to keep an easy East team on the schedule... 8 or 9 in a row does that.

I did live in Tennessee though. I remember when it was a big deal. But it's a generational rivalry and not one that has carried over IMO. If I asked my UT friends who they's rather beat they'd likely list half the SECe before getting to Bama-yes, for all the reasons you listed.
I know yall hate UT. And some UT fans hate Alabama. But everyone hates Alabama.
Hell, some LSU fans hate ULL and ULL fans hate LSU. But it's still not a rivalry.
Come on man, you don't actually believe this.

You should just look at the won-loss record of Tennessee and Bama.
Until Tennessee fell on hard times, it was one of the proudest programs in the NCAA. At one time it was fourth all-time behind Michigan, Bama and Notre Dame.
And Bama, well, they are Bama.
I treat the game with anticipation unless Carolina or Georgia is playing in the same time slot.

Yes. It's a terrible "rivalry". Go back and look at the series history. It's largely made up of streaks where one team is beating up on the other team in a down cycle for several years.

You sure know a lot about it. You should write a book to compete with the hundred or so books on the topic.

I'm in a CFB group text thing on GroupMe and at least half the guys on there are Vol fans. Never do I hear shite about this rivalry. It's always about UF. I've never seen anyone outside of this board even refer to it as "TSIO".
Half may be strong, I'll admit. But UF and UGA both seem to take precedent in my circle of friends. And when SC was good, them too.

So what, the 5-10 people in a group text represent the entire fanbase? Extrapolation station around here

You guys insist on continually reminding the rest of us (a) how young you are, or (b) how, in spite of your attempted appearances, you don't know shite about college football...relatively speaking.

No surprise because an Auburn man probably owned the gas station your daddy pumped gas at.

Is there any other rivalry that rustles jimmies as much as TSIO? I can't think of one. TSIO isn't going anywhere. It means too much to the folks of both states and both schools/programs. And if keeping TSIO going is going to make Alabama and Tennessee happy then the SEC is going to make sure it goes on. SEC isn't going to piss off its two blueblood programs.

Agree.
It's time to put the UT/Bama rivalry to rest. I've heard TSIO but I don't think it's used as commonly around the college football world as some in here would have us believe.

Has a Bama fan ever even killed a family member over a UT loss?
