I'm pushing 30, live in TN, have 2 UT grads/fans in my wedding, and feel it's forced

even my UT buddies don't treat it like they do the UF game. Hell, not even like the Vandy game anymore.

Both age and location determine the level of hate. 30 and younger hate Florida most. 30 and above hate Bama most. Middle, TN fans hate Vandy because Vandy despises us but not many outside of Middle, TN care. I live in East, TN and consider UK more a rival than Vandy - we had the battle of the barrel that used to go to the winner of football games and long ago went to the winner of basketball then football. And on campus, we almost always have things like the Big Orange Blood drive to compete against UKs campus blood drive. Also, I know far more Cats fans and people from Kentucky.

It varies a lot by region, age, and experience. And of course, each fan is different.

Ya know I've never seen it put that way, but it makes a lot of sense. Age of course was taken into account as the older UT fans recall beating Bama like a drum.

I'm 22 and remember the Alabama game being a homecoming game for us. Phil owned that arse on and off the field throughout my childhood.

I'm not even 30 yet and Alabama is my most hated team with Florida being a close #2. I will admit that Florida used to be my most hated when I was growing up because VOLS could not beat them (not much has changed) and we owned Alabama in that timeframe (95-05). My grandfather hates Alabama more than ISIS and used to tell me when I was younger that I would understand one day when Alabama is back. He was right

UT would have to win occasionally

Alabama leads the series 51–38–7. They win more than "occasionally."

The rivalry has always been streaky.

I've been following VOLS football close enough to where I understood what was going on for 20 years. We are tied at 10 apiece now but I remember exactly what you are talking about.

Almost 2 decades now. At what point do Bama fans realize that Tenn's downward trend is likely here to stay? They may be slightly above mediocre at best with a great coaching hire. You cannot have a great rivalry when one of the rivals is dog shite.

Are you stupid or just uneducated on the subject?

Yall sure cry about coaching a lot actually. Maybe it's time to realize that Tennessee is now a stepping stone program. Ask Lane.

20 FRICKING YEARS!!!. Get it? No one cares when Bama plays Tenn anymore.

Please see yourself out of this discussion. You clearly have no clue of what you're talking about.

Tennessee vs Alabama since 1995(last 20 years)
Tennessee= 10wins
Alabama= 9wins (1 vacated)

Again, you're a dumbass

It's not up to him to decide who your rivals are...who anointed him rival maker. He's a child with no histrionic perspective of this game or any other outside of his narrow purview.

I agree, but for him to say you've owned us for 20 years is just pure fiction.

I never implied that...he may have? I'm saying he will never get it! And I don't expect him to understand...he's nether Bama or UT. You have to live it to get it...
ETA...I know you weren't accusing me of questioning your record against us this past two decades. Sorry about that.

Very true. And that's why LSU fans will never get it. They don't have a true rival

quote:

I am not knocking Bama, they are legit, and have been for sometime. My beef is this so-called rivalry that is pushed down our throats every year that has been one sided for the almost 20 years. 20 FRICKING YEARS!!!. Get it? No one cares when Bama plays Tenn anymore. The game has had no bearing on the outcome of the SEC for quite some time. The game is a shite show every year.

And yes. This was the morons original post

From what? You're the one who went off kilter and started flaming about French culture

I'll keep it in the goalposts for you. The rivalry is bullshite because Alabama owns yall and no one outside of the south knows or cares to know about it. That's the truth. I know it hurts. But if yall had been worth a frick the last decade, make it would spark something. But until then, people are gonna point and laugh at your faux rivalry.

Alabama cares because they hate Phil for turning them in, and that is reason enough. UT cares because you need a reason to stay relevant. Neither of those are reason enough for anyone else to care about your one sided "rivalry".

Geez there are a lot of jealous dips hits in here.

I'm in my 40s. Bama and Tennessee have been rivals a HELLUVA lot longer than just the last 9-10 years.

This is a stupid thread made up by children.

We've disliked their a&& long before Phil. You would never understand. Stick with what you know. And BTW...when did either of these schools care what the rest of the country thought about our yearly game in October? The answer is...never.

It feels forced because they make allies of us every year with this 'it's not a real rivalry' bullshite. We're too busy joining forces on here to defend it to let the rivalry flow. Which makes them a buncha assholes if ya ask me.
