Roll their eyes into the back of their head when that fig Marty Smith is on SEC Network? He comes off as one of those people who is acting out some retarded Hollywood version of “southern” because he doesn’t know what southerners are actually like. Pours it on way too strong and just sounds like a douche.

I don’t dislike him quite as much as you 
but it seems he overplays his southern-ness.
I kinda think tho the further east you get in the conference people do talk and act more like that.

Good point, I don’t think Chizik is “annoying” as much as he is just flat out overrated. He’s nobody without Cam.

I can’t stand him either. As you say, he’s a Hollywood idea of what a southerner is. I just looked it up, he’s from Virginia. So he’s not even SEC footprint.

Yep, from Virginia. Literally nobody is Virginia has that accent. I’m not sure ANYONE has that accent, it screams of being manufactured.

Marty can be a lot to deal with but he's nothing compared to Wright Thompson. That guy is such a try hard. He appoints himself as the voice of all people from the south on ESPN.

He's right at the line where Virginia subdivides into old south.

I don't think Gene Chizik is "overrated" as a CFB HC. No one, and I mean no one, thinks he's a great, or even just plain good head coach. Everyone knows that Cam, Fairley and Gus won that title. Mainly Cam and Fairley once he turned it on against LSU, UGA, and Bama.
But as far as Chizik goes as a DC and an analyst on TV, he is very good at both. He knows Xs and Os and that's just not even up for debate if you've ever watched him talk or break down film.
ETA: Marty Smith is a fricking cornball. That, we can agree on. I can't stand that guy.

Hes fine. Obviously he tries too hard. But Id rather a guy be sometimes annoying and sometimes entertaining, than a complete robot.

The over the top southern/country schtick makes my skin crawl.
Hearing or seeing Marty reminds me of "Fancy" By Reba, Another over the top fake Southern/Country caricature.
And this is coming from a person raised in Arkansas, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
