that's a fricking joke....there probably wasn't 1 or 2 players on that team that could have started for Alabama...and Alabama, that year, had SEVERAL guys go on to the NFL......
Also, when Miles wins the NC this year, it will be 2 in 6 years, and having played for 3 in 6 years. Saban will have 2 in 4 years...and have played for 2 in 4 years.
Urban Meyer won 2 in 3 years...give me a fricking break...this isn't unprecedented. You guys should be more worried about god only winning 1 SEC Title in 6 years........That is hardly dominant.

You ever heard of John Wooden?
I'm guessing the OP and most of the Bammer respondents to be in the 12-18 age bracket. So, no. They've probably never heard of the greatest coach in NCAA history and honestly think that Sabear will approach that somehow.....

that's not going to happen.....even after he finishes 6 years at bama with only 1 SEC Title....they still will want to suck his dick. That comes from a lack of education, for the most part.....and not much life outside of alabama football. I'm as big a homer/follow all lsu news type of guy......but i don't care if miles wins 5 in a row...I ain't sucking his dick nor treating him like a god.......
No, the gumps won't get tired of it...and they won't let lack of success diminish it either. They have already wiped out the LSU loss last year as if it didn't happen. The completely avoid the truth about winning 1 SEC Title in 12 years....they are gumps...nothing more, nothing less.

Sure.. but it wont happen, you guys will lose 3 games

Of course, Auburn and LSU fams will have that opinion...no butthurt there
yes, and you count 14 championships, including championships where you finished ranked 20th in the country in the polls...but were awarded a championship by some second rate media......not to mention you have won 1 SEC title in 12 years....so.....Alabama does not have near the success of LSU since the year 2000.....so....probably not so butthurt when looking at facts.

Yet, we still got the same number of natty's since 2000....nobody gives a shite about your SEC title last year

In all seriousness,,,, the fact that he brought LSU back from the bottom dwellers of college football, (not just the SEC) cements him as the best modern coach in college football..
The ignorance of other programs is a gumps Achilles heal.
Well,,, let's take a look. Before Saban's arrival to LSU, how many years had it been since the LSU Program was relevant to college football? 15 or so? Maybe you need to do a little review on your program...
Hey,,, you could say I'm the pot calling the kettle black! And there would be a little truth to that! But, we had not been down as long!

It takes a real mental giant to lump in Shula, Dubose, and Franchione's records in with Saban's. Since the OP is about Saban's record, we should compare records since 2007.

How old are you? Seriously?
LSU has 4 SEC Titles since 2000...Bama has 1....despite what a punk little kid like you thinks, there are many people that have great respect for an SEC Title. Of course, most of those type of people are actually shaving now, and have some intelligence.

FIFY.
1941 is the only bogus one. All the others are either AP, UPI, or we went to the Rose Bowl (1925, 26, 30, and 34).

LSU was down in the 90's...no doubt.....they did have a stockpile of talent when Saban took over...much like when he took over at bama. LSU was pretty good in the mid to late 80's (a few orange and sugar bowls) so not really 15 years. Alabama can relate to having a down several years.

This. Saban is already the best coach since Bear Bryant.
I disagree with this. Bobby Bowden had a run in the 1990's that Saban will likely never match. And Bowden did it at a school that was historically dogshit in college football. He built it from the ground up and he played some insanely difficult schedules doing it in the 80's and 90's. Bowden played Notre Dame, Miami, Florida, and Auburn every year in the 80's and early 90's when all 4 of those were national powerhouses.
Also, Steve Spurrier's run with the Gators in the 1990's when UF had like 1 SEC championship in its history is up there.
Finally, a NC is not the be all, end all of a discussion like this since it involves a lot of luck and has nothing to do with the coach or team often times. LSU backed in in 2007 almost by accident, and bama lucked out last year and maybe should not have even been in the game. Conference titles matter since they are decided on the field whereas the NC often is not decided on the field.

If there is one absolute in this discussion, it is that Saban wasn't left a whole lot to work with by Shula. Most of the game changers on the '09 squad were players that Saban recruited.

As awesome as it feels to win a conference championship, I like the feel of winning the national championship a lot more. That's what every team in the FBS is playing for. Winning your conference these days is simply an added bonus. When we played Florida in '08 and '09 in Atlanta, I looked at them as an obstacle between us and the crystal football, not as an obstacle between us and the SEC title.
