Petrino will do what his wife tells him, just like every other man that is married in this world. Word is she loves it here and will only move again if it is back to Montana, FL is only further away from there. I think he stays.

pretty good breakdown. i think petrino could do very well at florida but like you pointed out, could rub some boosters the wrong way. he can turn on the charm when he wants to but i think that is rare. he reminds me more of a pro coach in that aspect, in that he'd much rather be breaking down gamefilm than chatting up reporters or boosters.

regardless, i'd understand the recruiting concern but i think it may be a bit of a nonissue when you consider the two schools he's been HC at were not exactly in the middle of talent hotbeds. the guy definately does his own evals and doesn't care what rivals/scout says but in the middle of florida, at a school with the prestige like florida, there's no doubt that he'd be able to pull better talent. different types of athletes than florida has gotten under meyer but he recruits to his system.

overall, i think he's terrible and ya'll should stay away from him.

and i can honestly say that i don't think Petrino's name is out there by his own choice.

so your saying if florida calls for an interview, he doesn't interview? i mean who would force him to do this?

from all indications thus far, no. from what i've heard, he's happy but probably more important than that, he knows his reputation can't handle anymore negative publicity and the only way to fix his reputation is to stay at arky at least 5+ yrs. before this whole meyer situation started, he even initiated a 7 yr extension with a 6 million buyout.

things could always change when you're talking about millions of dollars being thrown around but that's just the word at this point.

They were just talking about it on Bo's show. Petrino is in Fayetteville preparing for recruiting visits. While the powers that be are getting his coordinators raises, the new facilities approved and the head coach's salary in the 3-3.5 million dollar range. Petrino loves us and we love him. I do not think Florida is an option at this point.

His buyout right now is $4.75M

After January 1st it drops to $3M

Although I believe it will actually go back up to $6M before the 1st of the year.

i didn't say that. i said i don't think his name came up by his own choice. Petrino's name has come up in rumors, but it's been "Foley is interested in Petrino" and never "there has been contact" unlike Gruden, Stoops, Mullen, Peterson. Maybe he would interview, but I do doubt it, for a multitude of reasons.

really don't know what you're saying here.

Yes we want him. He's still an option and is currently 3rd on the list. He hasn't interviewed yet, but Stoops and Petersen have.

guess you gator fans need to focus on AVAILABLE coaches. Petrino is happy at Arkansas.

i see the florida coaching search turning out similar to the USC coaching search last year if petrino is your third option you better prepare to hire your 4th or 5th depending who they are, the coaching carosel this year hasn't had quite the pool to choose from as previous years.

I think we will get 1 of our top 3. Have you noticed that none of them have come out and publicly denied having contact with UF or stated they have no interest in the job, except for Mullen who never got an offer.

1. stoops is building a giant show house in norman fwiw. he isn't going anywhere.
2. petersen could go but i don't see him being a fit at florida.
3. petrino isn't going anywhere and if he did at this point would you really trust someone wouldn't just pay for him to leave.
i think you guys should go hard after whittingham and hope it works.

Stoops already has a vacation home in Crescent Beach, FL. His wife's entire family is there, and prefers it heavily to OK. It was rumored heavily that Stoops had already shown extreme interest last year when Meyer stepped down momentarily.

Petersen has already had talks (interviewed) with Foley.

Petrino has been in contact, but hasn't interviewed. He's the 3rd option and nothing would take place with him until the other 2 declined the offer.

ask yourself this, would you want to move closer to your inlaws when your just now building a new mansion in norman?
