I'm just laughing at some the Auburn fans who are trying to convince themselves that losing the kid right before the Clemson game is not a big deal.

Am I missing anything?
Other than the Eric Mack getting shot, and two of his former teammates getting killed, no, I guess that about covers it.

I was not even going to list the shootings. But it is certainly part of the "events" of the past 24 months. Not the players fault but it's a big group of happenings.

If I was a fan of another program, I'd say it was karma getting us back for the BCS.

Not that anyone on the Rant would ever say that.....

Rumor has it Benton helped instigate that fight, so maybe the players did have something to do with it after all. Who knows.

AU also has a commit who is suspended from his team for walking out of practice. Pike part 2.

Rumors are just that.

I am also concerned about how Liner will do once he is on campus.

"This kind of behavior will not be tolerated at Auburn"

Looks like all the BS is over with. Chizik just put the fear of Saban in his team.

I guess my question if I were an AU fan at this point, would be why are we signing these punks that we know are punks? Why not cut guys like Pike and Liner loose and go sign someone with a little bit of character to go with talent and save our selves the the PR issues these guys are going to cause once they get on campus?

He seems to have anger management issues. Might be on roids or something.

character is taught and instilled in people at a very young age. Most at his age just dont turn over a new leaf..that is not to say it cant be done, but the chances are slim.

if hindsight is 20/20 as they say..was it worth it with Pike..With the slim experience AU has at QB, i would think Pike would have been in the thick of things for the starting job..Not now since he burned his bridge

He wouldn't have, our other freshman QB is better anyway.

Losing a center is a freakin HUGE DEAL. Its a major blow to Auburn. Im pissed at Dismukes for being so stupid. I will admit I dont like this kid. Stupid hairdo's and do rags with a regular tendency to act like a douche.

Most people outside of Lee County saw this as a 7-8 win season for AU. Now with this news, what's the state of the AU program if they finish 6-6 this year?

OK, I'll bite. Unless we have a huge wave of suspensions or injuries, I can't see us going 6-6. Having said that, if we can't go 8-4 in the regular season, I'll be pissed. Last year, with our defense being garbage and having a brutal road schedule, we still managed to finish 7-5. We're now more talented and more experienced, our defense should be significantly better (although not great), and we our toughest games at home until the Iron Bowl. No reason we shouldn't be better all the way around.

If we can't go 8-4 or at least match our record of 7-5 from a year ago, I'll really start questioning in which direction Chizik has this program headed. And if other fans are going to use these dismissals/suspensions as excuses for our issues as the season progresses, well that still goes back to Chizik. It's time for this team, under Chizik's direction, to start making some significant strides, and I want to see it this season.
