I think that this idea is kinda being oversold. We had the top recruiting class in the nation despite just barley being bowl eligible. Same for Bama last year. I don't think that recruits pay as much attention to single wins and losses as people think.

Yeah, but the polls do, and you have to admit that we get a lift most of the time just because the SEC is so dominant. Do you think that we would have been in the NC game last year with 2 conference losses in the PAC-10? The ACC?

This really doesn't do much damage to the SEC IMO, if anything, teh Ole Miss loss would have been worse. All it is is a fork in the eye of Bama. This gamed demonstrated Saban looking one level below Bob Knight and a team completley imploding. Can't think that hurts LSU. Utah and the MWC is not a threat to the SEC's dominance.

My feelings really have nothing to do with Saban, but the Gump nation as a whole. I am glad they got whacked by the Utes. I don't care if they play in our league. That Gump fanbase got WAY, WAY ahead of themselves this season, and they really got to be #1 by default as everyone in front of them got beat one-by-one.
The Gumps can say what they want and make the excuses all they want, but the bottom line is that they got dominated by the Utes- they never led and they were completely shell-shocked with the 21-0 start by Utah, and Alabama is just not the kind of team that offensively can come back from that.
Great game by Utah, and as for Gumpabama, it's back to the drawing board for that team going into next season.

Not directly. No one is going to say that the MWC is better than the SEC top down, but someone could say that maybe the PAC-10 is better because one of our best teams lost to a MWC team.

I hear yeah, but anyone can say anything. WIth the way the Big 12 has played the SEC rises to the top by default, espescially with a Florida win. The Pac 10, 5-0 in bowls or not, is not the best confernce and no one could seriously argue that they are. Plus the Pac 10 is 1-6 vs. the MWC, with only CSU losing to Cal. OSU, who beat USC lost to Utah too.

Disappointed for the SEC.... but not that much since it was Bama. What I really like about this lost is that it will probably keep USC from making a run at the AP title especially after all the USC love fest from ABC and ESPN. I expect that the western region AP voters are split between undefeated UTAH and USC.
Also, I think that having a strong conference helps recruiting b/c kids want to play in the best league which is the SEC.

I pull for all SEC East teams and lower tier SEC West team. BUT a strong Bama, SEC West, does no good for LSU. I never want to give ammo to one of my big rivals. That just doesn't make any sense to me.

Before the game I figured I would have to pull for Bama just to support the SEC, since I'm always arguing with folks here in Monana that the SEC is head and shoulders above all the rest.
BUT...once the game started, I couldn't resist rooting for Utah against the hated Gumps and Saban.

Just the opposite for me.

I was ok with the loss, like others good to see Bama taken down a bit. If it was the MNC game I would have been mad. But if FL takes care of business, I think the SEC had a banner bowl run.

Can't stand Bama, and I'm not a Saban worshipper, but I'd rather LSU be the one to dish whippings like that and not these OOC teams. When Bama got handled like that, I couldn't help feeling embarrased for the SEC.

It pretty much took any ammo for ESPN saying USC deserves to be a Co-National Champion. If Florida wins, that will make the SEC 6-2 in the bowls. That is still pretty dominate if you ask me.

Ambivalent.
Disappointed for the SEC (that's really embarrassing that one of our SECCG teams lost to a MWC team) but ok with Bama's misery.

I usually pull for the SEC but I made a decision this year to be a sore loser and pull for everyone except for Bama and UF. 1 down . . . 1 to go.
