Oh sure, but with diddlers this is an immediate kick in the nuts.

That is, my foot to his he-just-touched-my-drum-set nuts.

Auburn should be #1 after Saturday night. That was extremely impressive.

Tennessee also played a complete game against a high major on the road. Alabama looked pretty blah against Arkansas State (who is a good team, but still), so that's reasonable.

Interesting…. Sounds like you’re admitting you fail to be objective when debating with me. I’ll keep that in mind

If we beat Purdue then each team will have one really good OOC win. We also have Houston on the 26th and North Carolina on Dec 4. Plenty of time to earn marquee wins.

Bama is heading into the toughest 7 game OOC stretch I can recall. Every team is likely in the Tourney or on the bubble.

#13 Purdue
Illinois
#8 Houston
#24 Rutgers
Notre Dame
#10 UNC
#14 Creighton

If they navigate that in the early season with so many new faces to 2-3 losses, I think they are in great shape headed into conference play.

Yeah, Oats really seems to emphasize the "learning" aspect of these brutal OOC schedules.

There will be no doubt that this team will make some terrible mistakes, and will have plenty to build from, like last week. I'm sure they'll drop some that they weren't supposed to.

I guess the idea is that hopefully the sum total of these experiences will payoff in February and March, but it can make you really question everything when you inevitably hit rock bottom at some point along the way.

My body is ready for the hurt (again).

I’m pretty sure rock bottom was when yall lost to the 6-26 (1-17 SEC) UGA team a couple years ago

I can't believe how basketball in the State of Alabama has changed. I was a 1993 grad from Auburn, and our biggest guy was a 6 foot 5 guy named Chris Brandt. Not sure we won more than 4 SEC games a year while I was there, and the students flat out didn't go to the games (although in our defense we were pretty awful post-Barkley and our arena was the worst). We had some decent seasons since, but only a couple. Bama had a few better seasons than us, but always seemed to lose momentum and fall back to mediocre.

Pearl and Oats have really changed things for both schools. Lots of basketball left to the played, so obviously everything could go south, but gotta feel good about beating Houston early. SEC as a whole looks pretty good this year!

Anxious to see how we play against Duke tomorrow night. I don’t expect a win but would just like to see where we stand at this point.

Purdue without Andre the Giant isn't going to be the marquee win you think this season.

A true road win over a Top 25ish Purdue team will be a very good win (if we can get it). It would almost definitely be a Q1 win.
