I don't hate Urban.
He promoted a culture of a divided team. The "circle of trust" in which star players got a pass for breaking rules. Boom changed that completely. Janoris though he could carry on and continue Urban's way,and was shocked to be ran out of town. The program was in shambles because there was no team unity. It was obvious in 2010 when Floyd, Elam, RoPo and co were put down constantly by Mike Pouncey, lots of locker room drama. Rainey and his favorites got away with anything. It started with Percy- he never practiced like everyone else. Tebow would go to coaches meetings. He divided the team, and then was shocked when Carlos Dunlap went drinking before the SECCG.
He lost control of the players, and lost his best assistant coaches (Mullen, and Strong). He handed the keys of the program to Adazzio who was inept.

Bottom line is he made many mistakes, and when he realized it would be a bitch to fix, he bolted.

I thought he wanted to spend more time w/ his kids. Fambly man and all that. Apparently he doesn't have to work as hard or as long coaching in the Big 10.

I just always assumed his family must be full of dicks if he was tired of them after only one year.

If health really was an issue, Meyer would've stayed off the sidelines for more than one fricking year. The man quit. There might have been other factors involved besides Saban but he undoubtedly quit.

The most plausible explanation I heard floated was the wife caught him having an affair with a Florida co-ed explanation. That would explain the stress, statements on the family and why going to another school would be a fresh start.

There is also his personality - he is one of those coaches who likes building a program much more than the grind of maintaining a program

Meyer can dominate the BIG year in and year out. You can't do that in the SEC. The SEC is too strong from top to bottom to allow that too many good teams. Much easier to keep OSU on top and Ohio is a talent rich state. It's not Florida, Texas, California, Georgia but there is alot of talent still there.

With all that being said, I'm appreciative for the success he brought to UF, but the way he went out was quite distasteful. Considering it was disingenuous.

Basically this.
