The SEC fricked up first by adding TAMU and Mizzou. They have brought NOTHING.
10 years later we now let go of CBS, and are now apart of ESPN… the raging liberal media outlet hell bent on destroying any traditional family values, and meanwhile it’s on the decline.

We'll renegotiate after Texas and Oklahoma join, but this is the end of the long contracts for the SEC.
I think you had two market strategies at play here: a short and a long strategy. The B1G guessed when they made the previous deal that value would go up considerably in the short term, so going to market again sooner would be best. The SEC made a guess that the market value was reaching its peak when it made its deal, so it was better to lock ESPN in at that rate for a longer period.
The B1G's guess has proven correct, but it's easy to forget that no one knew exactly what this thing would look like. When the SEC made its deal and the SEC Network launched, BTN was only kind of successful and PAC Network and Longhorn Network were basically failures.
Will the SEC eventually get these kinds of numbers? Yes, but the league won't ever lock itself into 10+ year deals anymore. That's over.

Has the SEC ESPN deal even been finalized?
I assume it has. Even if so, they're might be a clause in the contract to adjust for future market value. No one is mentioning it though so probably not.

There are a hell of a lot of Chicken Littles in here. The sky is not falling. The SEC will be just fine.

That is obvious, but it is interesting that the networks that signed the Big Ten took an inferior product for such a high cost.
The money will not help the Big Ten to win any titles.

When you look how big the NFL contracts are - 10 bill a year. There is lots of room to grow. CBS and FOX each pay over 2bill a year for 2 games a week.
I could see these contracts getting near those levels - given they include basketball too.
