Yes, when a freshman took carries from them because he is that good. LSU had 5 NFL backs on the roster this year.

LSU has played more freshmen and sophomores the last few years the any other team in the country. when underclassmen get that much playing time and experience...this is what happens.

The mouth breathers on here don't understand this.

Now I know that having lots of good NFL talent on your team is a good problem to have, BUT HOLY frick!!! FOR THE LOVE OF BOTCHED YAK ABORTION arse PORN!!! How does a team have 10 players declare early? Are all these guys projected as high picks? Do LSU players hate Les Miles? WTF? This has to be some kind of record for early draft casualties. Anybody have a stat on that?
You missed one. Chris Faulk declared today...
Yes about half of these guys are projected as first rounders, Half of the other half are projected second rounders. All of these guys have played at least two years on the field. LSU has learned the football version of the "one and done rule" in the NCAA. If you recruit top talent and they can go NFL in three yrs then why RS them and only get two years out of them.
One other small tidbit that could influence LSU thinking. A few yrs ago a promising OT named Ciron Black who was NFL ready opted to play one more year at LSU and next season suffered a career ending knee injury. He took out one of those insurance policies but it turned out to be worthless... So that is very much modern lore in the LSU football system.
One other thing. If you compare total personnel losses on the team Bama is losing more people on the field than LSU when you count seniors and early exits. LSU only had a few senior players on the field.

It always comes back to this for so many LSU fans.

DE Sam Montgomery, LSU

CB Tharold Simon, LSU
RB Spencer Ware, LSU
P Brad Wing, LSU
Well, everyone knew last year that Montgomery, Mingo, and Reid were leaving.
Mathieu never played this season.
Minter had a freakish season, with stats comparable to Manti T'eo.
Brad Wing isn't really a loss.
As good as Ford and Ware are, they had a very real chance of being 4th and 5th string this season. Ware might sneak into the 3rd or 4th round, and Ford will get drafted. NFL teams are always in need of running backs.
It's a lot, but we had a lot of young talent.

Don't you remember this board the day after LSU beat the aggies. a&m fans were quoting some news story about how the great aggie O-line rendered M&M ineffective.
You'll have to find another EXCUSE as to why jon jon didn't do squat against LSU.
aggies two TDs came 50+ minutes apart.

Do you really not understand why this is so? Are you familiar with the shelf life of running backs in the NFL? LSU has tons of capable running backs. The starter this year got hurt and lost for the season. Then the player that emerged as the best of the pack was a freshman. Ware and Ford going pro makes perfect sense ton anyone with a lick of objective reasoning.

Obviously losing this many players is a good and bad thing. Miles said in a recent article that this is such a talented group that as soon as some started declaring others too realized, hey I match up talent wise with that guy, I'm gonna give the NFL a shot too. So that has led the number going higher than expected. We got three full years out if a lot if these guys. The only one that I think is not smart is Faulk. I dont plan on us setting the world on fire next year, but we will still be a tough team to beat IMO. Played a ton of freshman this year.
