At one point they had 33 scholarship players on defense and 50+ on offense

So 52 on offense

for an offensive minded coach, playing in the big east where D isnt as big of a priority, that seems about right

2009 to 2010:

QB- Pike left, but Collaros had plenty of playing time due to Pike breaking his collarbone
RB - Isaaih pead, top rusher, returned.
WR- Armon Binns, DJ Binns, (two of top 3 receivers) returned
Ben Guidugli (TE)- 4th on team in receptions, returned

Lost one out of ten on their 2 deep on OL

Lost 5 starters on Defense. Returned 14 of 22 on two deep.

Explain how that is Brian Kelly leaving the cupboard bare at Cincinatti?

Because no defensive starters returned and Pike broke his arm

Didn't UC have two QBs who put up very good numbers in Kelly's last year there?... Gonzalez, or something like that?

EDIT: someone mentioned above... Caleros.

Kelly rarely recruited defensive players while at UC.

That seems to be happening quite regularly in college football these days, most especially in the Big 12.

notre dame better hire dantonio to recruit a couple of cycles if Kelly ever plans on winning a BCS game.

I don't recall seeing a Dantonio team even make it to the BCS championship, have you?
