Awesome,well-thought out post. Dead on accurate. The clock struck 12 that night and LSU was exposed. Only sheer luck kept LSU competitive after Nick Saban left LSU.

Honestly, other than Towson State, LSU will be hard pressed to be favored in any other game this fall.I'm not sure LSU will participate in another bowl game for maybe 7-8 years UNLESS,somehow, someway there is a season when LSU goes 5-7 and some bowls need an NCAA waiver simply to conduct a game.

The last 7 years of poor football, poor coaching, bad facilities and lukewarm fan support have finally caught up with LSU.

It's only a matter of time until LSU goes 0-12 this year, Miles quits, and TS is torn down.

+1. This. Discussions have taken place about LSU forming a D3 football conference with UNO or maybe just joining the one Milsaps and others are already in.

LSU vs Milsaps.I like the sound of that."Battle of I-55?"

I know that in terms of point spread it wasn't the most lopsided, but Saban completely shut out LSU. So, if it wasn't the most lopsided, it was certainly the most embarrasing.

I watchted the replay yesterday, Bama could have won by 40 + but I think Nick has too much respect for his old program.

How bout Florida vs Nebraska (1995 teams)

62-24. I still say that 95 Nebraska team was the best ever in college football...and it aint even close. However, this loss didn't break Florida's morale. They ended up dominating the next decade in college football.

You had to go there

Exactly what you said though, UF still ended up doing quite well for themselves after that blowout. That 95 NEB team was ridiculous, and the 95 UF team was pretty damn good too.

In terms of other programs, Ohio State has made BCS bowls (one NCG appearance) even after that Florida arse whopping, and until the Pryor/Tressel issue in 2011, they were still doing well.

If he could've he would've. Saban doesn't have respect for anyone. His ego won't allow it.

It was 6-0 late in the third. The smallest spark of life from the QB could have won the game.

Has losing 20 of the last 26 to FL destroyed any chance of the Vols returning to the second tier status they've enjoyed for 60 years?

If you thought 1/9 was bad just wait until we rip their hearts out this year. They will have a moving truck and miles bags packed before he gets home.

Nah. It was our first BCS loss EVER. The law of averages was on their side. It would have been extremely difficult to beat a team of their caliber three times in a row. They had all the intangibles, momentum, adrenalin, and revenge on their side that night.

Actually, we haven't lost to those people like that since 2002 (31-0). But we returned the favor in 2003 (27-3).
Of the four times we've lost to them since 2000, only 2002 and 2011 were ones we were outclassed in.
We've beaten them 9 out of 13 since 2000.

We will rebound.

They are way more over it than the fans.

This is what I was saying even pre-1/9. It was going to take a near perfect effort to beat Nick 3x's in a row. They played with a chip on their shoulder from the opening kickoff. LSU didn't. It happens. I fully expect 1/9 to make this 2012 LSU team even better. Most logical LSU fans have been pointing to 2012 as THE year for 3 years now. Last year was just kind of a little lagniappe.

My question is, will LSU come into the 2012 - 2013 season with their heads hanging and tail tucked between their legs?

Obviously doesn't know how LSU rolls... We're always mad and ready for a fight. Any Insult, perceived or actual is used to fuel the team....

That is a bunch of crap. One game in college football doesn't change an entire program.

LSU did it to Tennessee.... Twice....
But no it did not kill team morale, LSU is recruiting great this year and is still a loaded team looking to get better.
Many of teams listed were on a downward spiral as poor recruiting, key players leaving, coaching changes, changed their landscape.
