He wasn't good enough to win it in 2019, the non covid year.

Would have played against G5/FCS opponents, instead he did it against an all SEC plus ND and OSU schedule. Greatest season ever

Imagine being so butthurt with Bama envy that you downvote a post about a great human being like DeVonta Smith. Sad

LSU played with a freshman team idiot, and new coaches they lost 34 players while bama kept their whole team and played with mostly seniors

LSU, proved it on the road in 2019. All Bama's best players in the 2020 season* were on the field in 2019.

I keep seeing this weak argument presented over and over again. Since when in college football is a team the same team the following year? Every team is different every single season because college kids grow and learn so much year over year as they mature. The 2020 Alabama football team was much better than the 2019 Alabama football team and for two main reasons: One, we were playing with a healthy quarterback. Two, our defense in 2020 was better than the 2019 defense in every way. We struggled through the first few games of the season, but as the season grew on the 2020 defense became formidable and proved it down the stretch.

Yet Jamar Chase went five rounds earlier than he did.

Bo only won 1 game vs an Alabama team with a winning record. That was in 82 Bear was nearly dead.

Umm no they didn't, later in the season some freshmen were pressed into duty and LSU should be better for it this year.

If I'm not mistaken Alabama had 4 players drafted in the first round. We replaced our starting QB, RB, two receivers and 1 offensive lineman.

Ain't LSU breaking in two coordinators that haven't called plays before?

Until you guys realize LSU'S talent is better than all but 2 teams in SEC and is probably Top 5 nationally, Covid simply provided cover for poor personnel and coaching hires by Coach O.

Of the composite Top 5 recruiting ranking over past 4 years only LSU has finished unranked.

I usually pile on here. But last time I did BIG made me feel bad about it. So instead of smack talking, I'll just say what I really think. Chase was still the first wr taken. Seems to me he had nothing to gain by playing and everything to lose should he sustain a bad injury. Smith needed to play well to reach first round status and he certainly did. Seems to me both players made the right decision for themselves.

And Ruggs was picked ahead of Jefferson. Yet JJ had the better rookie year. And most famously 6 qb's were picked ahead of Tom Brady. My point is being drafted ahead doesn't mean a better season or career. We'll just have to see how it plays out at the next level.

2019 LSU is the only team in the history of college football to beat the #1,2, 3 and 4 ranked teams in the country.

Oh I think they both will have incredible careers. What I think Smith needs to worry about though it getting broke in the NFL, being only about 160.

So 6'4 230lbs Wrs don't get injured? Every snap it's a chance of being injured no matter the position. I'm fine with saying Chase was the better pro prospect, but to trying to determine a pro career especially at Wr is kinda hard to do.
