Dooley will not beat Georgia this year. Don't talk yourself into unrealistic expectations.

Tennessee Fans had the Blood Hounds out chasing Hamilton their AD and after getting turned down several times he made the best hire he could. Dooley might be a great pick if he can survive his first 3 years. Major rebuilding by a good coach who might not be quite ready for the big time.

And Richt is still 5-4 against the Vols in his career. If anybody wants to bet on the game this year i'd be more than happy...I like money. That is the one conference game besides Vanderbilt that I can't see us losing.

No doubt. UT is a 3 year project at LEAST right now. This is as low as the program has been in 80 years.

I know the feeling ...Arkansas' Basketball Program is the lowest it has been in a Long long time. Tennessee Football and Arkansas Basketball are two programs that WILL NOT stay down for long periods of time ...TOO MUCH Tradition!

Honestly, a realistic UT fan should already be speculating on who the next coach is going to be; Dooley will be fired after year 3 or 4. I'd put a few hundred dollars on that.

Tennessee should have been able to do better than Dooley (and Kiffin, for that matter).

Getting rid of Phil is not a slap in the face to Phil. Replacing him with Kiffin and then Dooley is a slap in the face. Tennessee went 7-6 last year, and now you've hired a coach who went 17-20 at Louisiana Tech.

You're right when you say this is the lowest the Tennessee program has ever been, but the crazy thing is that I think it's going to get even worse.

I'm not even sure what that is supposed to mean. Our fans are usually accused of lacking in the expectations department.

Derek Dooley
is this guy really SEC caliber?

Time will tell, but at least the guy has SEC coaching experience, under the direction of Sabear, no less.

Before UThug came calling, Kiffin probably thought Securities & Exchange Commission when someone mentioned SEC.

this.

IMO he is as good as Kiffin, in terms of actual head coaching.

The best thing about Kiffin's teams is his father coaching the D.

My biggest question mark about Dooley is his ability to recruit nationally. I could be wrong but he doesn't seem to be the high energy guy with tons of personality that you need to overcome his lack of success so far and recruit nationally.

Someone said he sounds like a professor instead of a coach. I can't remember where I heard that.

Yeah, that and we wouldn't want him coaching here even if his buyout was $1.

Someone please bump this thread when Richt is fired...especially since he is speaking for the UGA fans collectively.

If he succeeds with the talent at UT, I want him coaching here. Or Muschamp or Smart can follow Richt. But Richt isn't getting fired anytime soon, so it's all speculation.
