I was a big fan of his hard-nosed, discipline-oriented rhetoric when he got to Colorado. He won me over. I’m on record saying he’ll win and surprise people. But it’s clear he’s got a huge racist boulder (no pun intended) on his shoulder. Really soured on him in a hurry.

Sanders ran a 4.29 40. That’s God given speed. If he ran a 4.4 or more we probably aren’t talking about him now.

He had plenty of athleticism and skill, but his speed set him apart from the field.

I’m old school, so his showboating put me off because I grew up when sportsmanship and respect were a big deal. But he helped usher in what we see today and it’s become normal.

I’ll never be a fan of him no matter what he does in the sports world. But I don’t wish him harm.

7 percent of the American population is a clinical narcissist, and Deion is definitely in that 7 percent. Extreme vanity. Obsessing over what writers and random people on social media say about his program. The constant self-promotion and the need for people to be constantly talking about him and praising him.

I'm no licensed or unlicensed behavioral therapist, but it's pretty textbook and obvious what is going on there.

Agree. Anyone who has watched him since his FSU days can see that he is no different now than he was 35 years ago.

That type of behavior does not fly at Auburn. The one time a head coach thought he was bigger than the whole program he lasted a year and a half. There is a huge difference between promoting yourself and promoting your team. Deion Sanders takes every media opportunity to promote himself. He talked about how reporters thought he didn’t know anything about football and sarcastically commented that he only played 14 years in the NFL, as if no one knew that. The stuff about being a “confident black man” came out of nowhere, and it was especially odd considering Colorado has already had two black head football coaches. It’s all about him and how people have doubted him and are out to get him. I think in the short run, it’s great to build excitement and conversation. In the long run, he’s going to get himself and his team in trouble with this arrogant attitude.

I’ll never forget everyone making fun of UTrans when Tom Herman got off the team bus, carrying a baseball bat and then proceeded to get his team chased out of the stadium

Why is any of this unlikeable? This entire board has been denying he’ll have any success. He takes a team of majority of transfers and has success week 1. Whether or not he can continue is debatable. But, let’s be honest, this board is full of closet racists who, in fact, do not want him to succeed.

Eta: 3 downvotes and 3 racists outing (anonymously) themselves. Good job losers.

It’s because he black simple as that. Everyone that called him racist, using the actually definition of racist, tell me what he said that was racist. I can’t wait to read the stupid responses.

Closet racist #1. First post was about racism, and follows up with a “NO!” on a post about calling out racists. Deflection at its finest.

Why was it even necessary to bring up race? White coaches don’t talk about being “confident white men”; if they did, they’d be universally condemned and labeled as extremists. Mario Cristobal doesn’t talk about being a confident Hispanic man. He’s not the first black coach to lead a team of 75% black players, as he said. He’s not even the first or second at Colorado. So were Karl Dorrell and Jon Embree not “confident black men” according to Prime’s standard of black male confidence and intimidation?

He's not a winner yet. Not as a coach. He might be, I didn't expect him to beat TCU.

He may be black but idk if confident is an adjective I'd use to describe him. He's one of the most emotionless coaches I've ever seen on par with Aranda. The only time I've ever seen him react in any sort of strong way in his coaching career was he did a fist pump after a 4th down stop in that 2006 upset of USC when he was at UCLA. Dude's a robot

Trying to get a better understanding so bear with me. Are you saying his “black male confidence” makes him a racist

People tend to be sensitive about others who make everything about race. Deion has been giving off CRT vibes recently with his offense of being called a “Nole” instead of referencing his more recent HBCU graduation in 2020.

I like Deion. I loved watching him play for the Falcons and Braves and I’m excited to see what he does (continues to do) for Colorado, but I hate it when people make things about race/color unnecessarily. I had my doubts about him being able to turn around Colorado, but not because he is black. Colorado has been a difficult school to turn around, regardless of the coach (I was also supportive of Mel Tucker—who is also black—when he left UGA to coach there). I hope he is successful and it seems like he will be, but I’d prefer it if he left race out of it.
