Meyer heard some medical news that changed his priorities. Simple as that.
You don't go to the Hospital just for "dehydration". These college football dudes excel in dealing with that issue.
Pure speculation, but I think CUM got some serious news about his health at that time. I wish him the best.
I also think he's a class act, and flamers can go away.

I think he did too. I hate it because he is a damn good coach, but his health is more important than coaching. I wish him the best and he has my prayers

That actually isn't true. People do go to the hospital for severe dehydration.
But you're right, "dehydration" does seem to be a popular public reason for celebs.

If that's the case, then why wait till now to tell everyone? He should have told them immediately so UF wouldn't be put in a worse position by waiting.

Its a major life decision, compounded by the likely fact that he had to have additional tests and a determination made on exactly what his condition is.

Yet he will coach in the Sugar Bowl. I guess a little more of whatever caused UM to quit won't hurt.
