Big Ben threw 700 innings his junior year.
To hear Big Ben tell it, every time he pitched against A&M in College Station, the Aggies would shell the pitching mound with Howitzers, F 16's and nukes and "Big Ben" only had a flesh wound.

185 pitches over 3 games for Kopps in the regional. DVH trots him out for around 140 pitches against NCST the next week. Tired him out enough to give up that backbreaking HR in the 9th after 118 pitches.

Pitch counts are for bitches. Nolan Ryan threw 200 pitches and pitched again in 4 days. Old man can still bring it.
But for real, some of these coaches push arms to far. Any pitcher with any heart is going want the ball, they need to be responsible.
High School coaches were the worse. Throwing a kid on a Tuesday game 1 for 115 pitches, comes down to game 3 on Thursday and runs the ace back out there for another 120 pitches.
Next round of playoffs is Tuesday with extra innings, 12+ innings and 200 pitches later. Kid never was the same after that abuse.

You guys are acting like DVH is forcing these kids to play. You'd be crazy to think they don't want the ball in what could be their last game in their careers to help their team win the CWS.
Even Kopps told DVH he wanted the ball in that final game.
