Then you don't know what you're talking about, Darvin got great separation against DB's watch the kentcuky game last year or the West virginia game 2 years ago.

I would say above avg route running he was cams go to guy whenever he was in trouble watch some of his routes in the Ole Miss game this past year, that corner route he ran for a touchdown was perfect.

It is comparing what is the strength of his game to a small part of Fitzgerald's game. You and memphis both overstated the comparison by taking it out of context and intentionally missing the point.

Instead, you want to make the easy, but ignorant, counterpoint: How can you compare Darvin to the best WR in the NFL?

It is a mis-characterization of the comparison and the point that was clearly being made.

That hurts more than helps your argument. UK and WVU? seriously?

Wow, a 4 page thread about an UDFA WR that will never amount to anything.

Football season really needs to start...

What is the argument anyway? I think most AU fans thought Darvin was taking a bad risk by leaving early. As I have said, he is just not quite fast and/or big enough to look like a good NFL WR. That is why he went undrafted and why he will have to prove himself to make an NFL team. The lock out will probably keep him from getting his shot in the NFL this year.

WVU runs a 4-2-5 and has a very porous defense.

UK had Lindley last year, but he was a shell of what was expected of him. UK was torched multiple times

I think you fail to understand the phrase "product of the system."
It means the player looked like a better player than he actually was because he played in a system that was so effective. So it was more the system's success than the player's skill.

He played in a system that ran the ball 75% of the time last year.

Yet there were threads earlier this year about AU being balanced?

Well when you run for 400+ yards on what people thought was the #1 defense in the country, you'll do that more than not.

3,000 yards passing, 3987 yards rushing.. National Championship. I'd say we were pretty well balanced.

We didn't have to be balanced against LSU, though..

Comparing his hands, instincts and desire are not the same as saying he is as good as Fitzgerald. Darvin made incredible catches in traffic because he indeed had great hands, instincts and desire. Many of them were clutch catches to keep drives alive. The comparison, in context, is legit and someone attempting to make it look silly by insinuating that he was claiming Darvin was as good as Fitzgerald is being disingenuous.

Precisely. Larry Fitzgerald is my favorite WR...best in the business...at times, downright amazing. I am surprised that Darvin wasn't drafted late but not shocked...he has legitimate concerns that people are talking about. Only problem is that Memphis & friends want to talk only about his problems without acknowledging what he did well that made him so effective. Yes...his routes were only ok. Yes, his combination of size/speed/strength was not great. And the up and down and "doesn't show up" comments were total bs. But...covering what he was lacking, what did he have? Kinda intangible...when a ball was thrown his way and he was well covered...he was going to come down with the ball or no one was. He bailed out Cam numerous times last year. You see Clemson, LSU, Bama and UK defender with a perfect line on the ball...then at the last second, Darvin dart in front of them and take it away. No Auburn receiver had those type of balls skills that I can remember. And yes...the hands, instincts and desire part reminds me of Larry Fitzgerald...only its a tad more effective when you are a physical freak with a 45' vertical and you are strong as hell. So there is a big difference between the two of them...but that is their one similarity. Disagree? Fine.
