I haven't really read this thread except for skimming the last page.

But, does this pretty much sum it up?

People can argue whether or not his sources are correct but I have no doubt the guy is telling the truth about what he knows. The problem AGAIN is that revealing that info would bring a suit that would out his source and probably cost them their job.

And what is getting lost on you bammers is that there are hundreds of journalists with damaging insider information on programs, yet they know it could endanger the source so you know what they do?

They don't say sheet about it to begin with...

Let that sink in for sec...

They don't go on a trash show and boast about their so-called connections repeatedly, make childish rants about "wanna bet?", then amazingly try to paint themselves as men of honor about protecting their source.

If he really gave a damn about his source he would never brought it up in the first place, but instead starts mouthing off on the TMZ of sports radio.

And you are somehow trying to spin this guy as doing the "honorable" thing?

He knew he was never going to reveal his source from the start, but sure milked it for all the cheap exposure he could get.

Are they going to kill this thread? They need to.

Said his sources at the NCAA told hime the name of the bagman. This is some serious stuff. May make the Miami stuff look tame

I know you have a good time with this, but you're really losing your touch lately.

Just for clarification: What is he talking about here:

quote:

Look at the site traffic to Yahoo Sports for its piece on Miami. Great reporting and breaking news stories pay off with astounding numbers of readers. If Sheridan really had the goods on Auburn, don't you think -- as Andy Staples of Sports Illustrated asked me on Twitter -- USA Today would be furious at Danny Sheridan for breaking the news on Paul Finebaum's radio show and giving Finebaum the benefit of the resulting news crash? This would be the biggest sports story USA Today had broken this year. Maybe, forever

Is he inferring that USA Today is breaking a story on Cam Newton?

I believe that sums the whole kit and kaboodle up perfectly.

Actually, he almost certainly wouldn't. Granted, he is in a bit of a grayer area than others in the news media, I bet he would win the argument that he is a member of the media and his sources are protected.

But if he doesn't???

Answer: His source is in deep #### with his bosses for leaking info. It's too gray an area and too dangerous a road to go down. I don't blame Sheridan for not naming a name. He'll get over people trashing him for it but it would be a lot worse knowing you caused a friend to lose their job and to lose all your sources.

I will say that Sheridan has always comes off as an incredibly arrogant egomanical jerk in the past to me. His ego won't allow him to cut corners and make stuff up which is why I believe he is telling the truth. He would be devastated if he didn't have the sources to allow him to break stories and have his massive ego massaged by his peers.

The problem with those that want to see Auburn busted is that he's also admitted that it will take a badly disgruntled person involved in the situation to make any of the allegations stick. (doesn't it always.... )

It might have, but I was asking if the knowledge of a USA Today article about Cam came from that tweet, or it was prior knowledge.

I'm still not sure why Sheridan has chosen to publically show any involvement in this mess in the first place. There have been accusations, rumors, allegations, etc about many programs over the years and I can't remember ever hearing a peep from Sheridan, he never even gave his own opinion on things. This whole thing is just so out of the norm for him, it's weird.

I would say that anyone currently employed by the NCAA that has a known and established relationship with Danny Sheridan is already in deep shite!

You keep saying this over and over, but you are obviously just talking out of your arse. Let THAT sink in for a sec...

I'm not saying anything remotely like he's doing "the honorable thing"...but he didn't do anything other than what he said he would do. He never said he would reveal the name...

Easy there killer!!! Where the frick did I say Sheridan was a grand honorable guy?? Before you jump on me carefully read my entire post.

I agree that he never should have ran his mouth to begin with. I think he even admitted today on the show that he regretted coming on Paul's show in the first place when asked to do so. I don't know why he thought what he said in May wasn't going to create a stir.
