The term Black Bears is not ever in use. Our mascot named Rebel just happens to be a Black Bear. That is the only time it is refered too.

I like Mullen's fire and the fact that he isn't afraid to stir the pot in that rivalry. He's embraced it and has been pretty clear about his dislike of the Black Bears.

If MSU can keep him, he is in the process of really turning that program around and making them a solid team. MSU and Ole Miss are programs headed in two seperate directions at this point.

So, which way was it worded on the ballot? Cause if it was worded as it is in the media package that UM released here then it is NOT "Rebel, the Black Bear" but "the Rebel Black Bear". Seems odd that a school would repeatedly make that kind of PR mistake (especially with as much press as it was getting).

Everyone knows youre still the rebels. Mullen is just being tacky and those of you that are trying to argue he wasn't are either niave or just contrarians.

Let's see. When we hired Mullen, OM goons referred to him by: Mullet, Quazi, Hunchback, Gomer, Gatorscat, flathead, etc, etc, etc,...
When I was asked by a Bear fan why he had a hunchback, I replied; "guess it was from carrying all those national championship trophies around" Never heard anything else from them after that.

I am pretty sick at the administration buckling in to political correctness and coming up with a f'king black bear as a mascot.

I'm not. I like our new mascot. I like our old mascot and always will. Sometimes you have to move on.

That's like if he called Ark the pigs or Bama the gumps.

Actually it would be nothing like that. If he called arkansas the pigs then he would be being unprofessional because he would be referring to them with a unclassy version of their actual mascot, and in doing so taking a shot at them.

If he called alabama the gumps, then he would be being unprofessional because our mascot isnt actually a gump. Its an elephant.... Yes I know it has nothing to do with a crimson tide but that is another discussion for another day.

By calling Ole Piss the Black Bears he is in fact referring to your school by their actual mascot. If you find it offensive, then maybe you should take up with your university that they picked a rediculously retarded mascot.

I however will forever refer to you all as "The Ole Miss Ackbar's" and there is nothing you can do to stop me.

I think Mullin accomplished what he wanted calling the Bears, the Bears.

Yep, it is the fault of the university for first being such a collective pussy and throwing tradition to the wind, and second choosing a goofy arse bear as a mascot.

There will be laughter at their expense.

Dan Mullen reminds me of a WWE wrestler talking on a microphone; I keep waiting to hear Dixie play as Houston Nutt sprints towards the ring for a stare-down, setting up a match at the next pay-per-view.

They are called that at times. Much like we ridicule Auburn for having three mascots.

Would Saban ever call MSU the pups? No he wouldn't.

He would have no need to do this because we are the bulldogs. We are not the ones who's school admins didnt have enough balls to stand up to political pressure. Get use to it. I give it 10 years and there will be nothing at Ole Miss that has any reference to the Rebels. Face it you are now the black bears.

Quick question, why does it have to be the "black bears"? Overcompensating?
