Bama fans would lose their minds with Dabo as their head coach post-Saban.

I love how other fans tell us how we would or wouldn't act to a given situation.

Is there a segment of our fanbase that would not want Dabo as HC? Sure. That segment is in the (extreme) minority).

The larger segment will recognize that if that moron Les Miles can win a title with Saban leftover talent and take a full 9 years to screw it up, then a good coach like Dabo can take a better program (b/c make no mistake, Bama when Saban retires will be in much better shape than LSU was in when Saban left) and maintain 85%+ of the success.

We'll want the best available coach, and that will be Dabo. Will there be a drop off from arguably the top coach of all time to whoever is next? Sure. But it isn't like 7-5 is coming. Bama will still be in the thick of it every year.

Surprised to see him talking like this.

That's wild.

I am a Dabo fan FWIW, but not sure I agree with this approach.

Fact. Muschamp will have won more games in his first 3 years here than Spurrier did. Let that sink in.

When Muschamp wins 3 consecutive 11 win seasons ever in his career then get back to me.

Or better yet, When he ever wins 2 back to back 10 win seasons get back to me.

You would have to be insane to want to follow Saban at Bama. Nobody could live up to that.

Well maybe Clemson fans might understand what kind of coach he would be at Bama, considering that we know a thing or two about him. That is funny because a good portion (Probably about half) of the Bama fans on here state that they don't want him.

Dabo does so many things at Clemson that is part of his DNA that would drive ultra competitive Bama fans crazy. If you haven't paid close attention to Clemson, you wouldn't know what I am talking about. He can get away with it in a conference where he has clear superior talent differences and a Top 5 DC in Venables.

If Dabo were to take the Bama job in the next two years, Venables is staying at Clemson to be the head coach. Dabo needs an elite DC to be successful, and those can be tough to come by. Saban doesn't need one, because whoever comes in is running his system... Similar to Gary Patterson.

Love Dabo and what he has done for Clemson and hope he stays. Great coach, and he cares about his players and their lives beyond football. I am telling yall that you would be calling for his head after several years. At just about any other P5 program they would love Dabo forever. Y'all would be threatening his family's health and welfare within the first five years.

lol ... Venables was just bent over and mudhole prison raped by a first year first time OC in tater valley.

"Top 5 DC" ... ummmm, no.

He plays in the ACC. He lives in a very weak bubble ... as does Dabo. Both will be exposed quickly when they leave that ACC bubble.

Dabo give people lots of reasons to like him, heck if he didn't coach for Clemson, I'd probably like him too. However....

...If Dabo has one weakness, it's his Ego. It's why he runs down the hill first on gameday. It's why he doesn't take criticism well and tightly controls the local media in Clemson.

And it's that reason why I think he'd jump to Bama if offered. He'd get to be the head coach at the best program in the best conference in college football. He'd be going home.

And it would also be the reason where he'd be a monumental failure. Not for what happened on the gridiron, but for the stuff that happened off of it.

Come on Dabo, make the jump.

Seriously

Who would want to follow Saban?

I bet Swinney doesn't go to Alabama. He has a national championship type program already and he would leave to a no win situation following Saban

If alabama snubs him, which I expect them to do as long as he keeps these little temper tantrums up, he seems like the kind of cry baby bitch that would go straight to the other side of the state just for spite. So you might get your wish. lol

I know plenty of people that dont want Dabo. It's his attitude. He doesnt convey the attitude of a championship program. He conveys the attitude of an underdog that cries when he doesnt get his way. That's NOT what Alabama football is.

I dont fricking want him either.

I wouldn't presume to know more about Venables than a Clemson fan, but it would seem that him taking over at KS for Snyder would be a possibility. Why would Venables be any more loyal to Clemson than Kirby Smart was to Alabama?

Tell you what...name me a couple of coaches who are definitively better and are proven winners at that level...and available...then I'll care who you and your buddies want or don't want, because it will demonstrate that you're actually serious minded about this topic.

Every word of your comments about Dabo have been said by our rivals about Saban. Every. fricking. Word.

Do you have the memory of an actual chicken? So what happened last year and the year before against USC? What did Venables do to the mighty Urban Meyer and Oklahoma in the recent past?

Look at the past five years and give me five DCs that have put up better numbers. And don't give me the ACC is weak rhetoric. The SEC East the past five years was a mediocre division offensively (outside of UGA). Clemson's strength of schedule the past five years is much better than USCs.

I seem to remember Venables being a pretty dang good DC at Oklahoma.
In fact, his OK teams finished above Muschamp's TX teams in scoring defense 2 of the three years they were in the B12 together (2008-2010). Venables' defense was 1 or 2 in the B12 9 of the 11 years he was there, and top 10 nationally 4 of those years.

We know your memory isn't what it used to be, so no charge for that history lesson. Enjoy the 21 pt beating moral victory, though.

To claim the Bama fans who wouldn’t choose Dabo is a small minority is bullshite. I’d say it’s split pretty close to 50/50. Thankfully, the people I know who actually have some sway understand the poor fit.

Won’t happen when Saban finally hangs it up.
