I remember John C Calhoun and Wade Hampton (dorm named after Hampton at SC) and Strom Thurmond. Not Ben Tillman.

he probably was mentioned but I didn't associate Tillman Hall with him. Tillman is a pretty common last name.

rival fans always bring up tillman.

when I think of Tillman, i think of the clock tower building perched on a little hill looking over Bowman field with the Blue Ridge mountains in the distance.

when bitter rival fans and liberals think of tillman, they think of the racist who died over 100 years ago. you haven't seen the building ever or rarely so the building isn't an image in your mind as it is for Clemson grads.

your negativity isn't a reason I shouldn't like the building

Real simple

Why can't your School find a deserving Alum with a non-Racist past and simply re-dedicate that Bldg honoring an Alum that represents Clemson in 2020 and beyond?

No one is forcing Clemson that PoS bigot's name on that Bldg

No reason for Clemson to not evolve in a way that is inclusive, for some reason people act as if these Colleges have to honor these bigots & racists

wouldn't accepting black students and other minorities and women be proof Clemson is 'inclusive'. lol

the most of the basketball and football players are black and most of the Clemson soccer players are from other countries. if you tried to make the case these programs are not inclusive of white people , u would be mocked.

again i have no problem with them changing the name partly b/c i'm tired of hearing about it and the building has been vandalized in the past by leftwing antifa groups. lol I like the building and a lot of old college buildings.

proof that you guys aren't sincere is you don't talk about Tillman Hall at Winthrop. your only interest in Tillman is Clemson.

Alabama was literally the home of the Confederate White House in Montgomery and you are lambasting a guy from Clemson as a racist? What a hypocrite. I’m not one of these we need to erase history people but you definitely should not be lecturing Clemson University if you are a Bama fan.

if it is common knowledge that Tillman Hall was named after Pitchfork, and black people think it is racist, why do so many great black players come to Clemson.

people have been negative recruiting Clemson for at least 10 years with the Tillman thing. lol

I am probably wrong, but I always thought that was in Richmond, VA

Wasn't that the Capitol of the confederacy?

And South Carolina started the war by firing on Fort Sumter. Stupid point you are trying to make.

That’s exactly the point I am making. All the SEC schools have a historical link to segregation and other issues. To use this against Clemson and no other school is hypocritical. What counts is now. No one at Clemson is racist now just like none of the SEC schools are racist now...except for probably Bama.

You are forced by law to do that.
No one would argue Ole Miss was "inclusive" when they first integrated.

Listen, dick sucker. (Again, that's cool.) Can you name a 19th century asshat named "PHS"?

Don't pretend that you don't know that Tilly baits. You're smarter than that, my friend.

He's one of those a-holes that looks for every excuse to hold on to the past symbols of bigotry & racism

By comparison, notice how easy it was for Germany to give up all statues, named streets, bldgs, anything associated with the Nazis, in fact you can literally be arrested in Germany for displaying those symbols
Why not borrow "best practices" from Germany?

There you go with that logic thingy.

You know, of course, that I'm just kidding about the dick sucking, right?

My main point (which, if I'm not mistaken, is beside the OP's main point, but I don't give a shite) is that Dabo Swinney is an avowed proponent of the systematic robbing of the college athletes who generate revenue so that he may better enrich himself.

The study I linked earlier shows that the avg 'cost' of the scholarships earned by FBS football players amounts to only about 17% of the collective worth of their services, and it found that D1 men's basketball players were paid only about 9% of of their market value. Think about that...

The good news is that college athletes have twice won antitrust lawsuits against the NCAA over the past few years (price-fixing the cost of labor is illegal under section 1 of the Sherman Act) and the "good ole days" of the economic exploitation of college athletes is drawing to a close.

Peace.
