He isn't just a " former" player he is one of the best to ever play at Clempson. Dabo's ego strikes again.

Dabo's ego will not allow him to use the portal. He already has a speech written and been practicing in the bathroom mirror in hopes he can say everyone was wrong and he was right. A speech we will never hear.

quote:

Ladies and gentlemen, it's an honor to address you all today. As the head coach of the Clemson Tigers, I stand firm in my belief that building a strong football program isn't just about recruiting new talents through the transfer portal. While some may view it as a quick fix, I firmly believe in nurturing and developing our players within our program. It's about creating an environment that fosters growth, discipline, and loyalty among our athletes.

The transfer portal undoubtedly offers opportunities, but it's not the ultimate solution. Our success at Clemson has been built on the foundation of developing young men both on and off the field. We emphasize character, leadership, and dedication to our team's culture. By relying solely on the transfer portal, we risk losing the essence of what collegiate sports are about—a cohesive unit that grows and evolves together over time.

Furthermore, bringing in players from the transfer portal can disrupt team chemistry and cohesion. Building a championship team isn't just about individual talent; it's about how well these talents mesh and play together. By prioritizing our current roster and investing in their growth, we ensure a cohesive unit that's dedicated to each other's success. While the transfer portal serves a purpose, I stand by the belief that true success comes from developing our players from within, instilling values that extend beyond the game, and creating a family atmosphere that resonates within the Clemson Tigers. Thank you.

You're right. He's a member of Clemson's Ring of Honor. To see the way folks were crapping on him on taternet, you can really see the Cult of Dabo in full effect.

Who from 2023 Clemson would start for Bama or UGA?

Klubnik probably could have started the South Florida game for Alabama since we decided Jalen "needed to show leadership from the bench."

That's all I've got.

So ironic because somehow someway Clemson went from Irrelevant to winning titles when they handed out bags of cash under the table and now it’s legal and they aren’t doing it Lolol

Clemson has ZERO incoming portal transfers.

So, long term, they should be in better shape.

They play NIL just fine

Clearly evidenced by their current lack of talent on the roster & 15th ranked recruiting class.

Except when you consider they had guys leaving thru the portal. That's a net loss.

Not just a former Clemson player; but a 2 time consensus All-American player & Kinard is the all-time Clemson leader in interceptions with seventeen and tackles by a defensive back with 294. He was also inducted into the college football hall of fame.

Bad practice making your school's past greats and legends mad at the school.

I would be so embarrassed as a college student if my parents released a statement like that. I bet mommy still cuts his steak up for him.

Don't forget Clemson's sign-stealing stuff. They haven't done too well after being called out on it. ...and Venables leaving.

We are in the money era. There are a lot of traditional contenders that are about to become Vanderbilt.

He picked a stupid hill to die on. Whether you go whole hog and try to buy half a team for just a 1 year shot at a playoff spot like Ole Miss or just just pick up a needed piece or two like Bama, ga or LSU you have to do something.

Clemson success from 2015-2019 was a result of (1) a void in Southeastern elite schools struggling in recruiting with; Georgia, Florida, Florida State, Miami, etc all being down.

(2) Elite quarterback play with 2 of the greatest college quarterbacks to play in the 21st century. Which is a direct result of Georgia not recruiting its high school talent well at the time

(3) Elite coordinators and sign stealing implementation. Kind of chalked up the sign stealing when I first heard a couple years ago but more and more is becoming apparent that Clemson probably did things similar to Michigan in terms of knowing opposing teams play calling. The 2019 game vs LSU comes to mine where they knew everything coming the first quarter before LSU stopped sideline signals.

All of that is over now. Clemson will never be a powerhouse under Dabo again.

I will also add with SC falling too. I know it may not seem like much but Dabo could not beat SC, so it invalidated anything he did in the ACC. As good as DHop and Tajh were, nobody nationally remembers them in college because they only won the ACC.

When Spurrier left and SC fell, Dabo was able to pick up steam winning not only the ACC but also the rivalry and going undefeated. Their recruiting picked up and they were good.

Had SC stayed strong, there is a good chance Dabo gets fired after one or two more losses and never gets that NC.
