Well the SEC was the best conference for nearly a decade. Only natural for them to be compared to. Also the SEC is a natural comparison from an ACC coach because we are in the same region.

This year the ACC was really good. We had 5-6 programs with 9 wins. GT has average recruiting classes around 40 yet went 3-0 vs. the SEC granted UK and Vandy, but UGA top 10. Its coaching and the ACC has more quality coaches right now. Its one thing to get the talent its another to maximize and develop that talent.

Itll keep changing. Big 10 is getting stronger coaching wise.

False statement.

Taters and Free Shoes are the flavors of the month.

The U has the most Natty's but have decline since the Cocaine Cowboy days

Free Shoes is probably upper tier but certainly not elite (say top 6 - 8 teams of all time)

Taters now have 2 modern Natty's so they are Auburn like, but certainly not elite

Bumbles have a modern Natty and 3 Natty's from their SEC days but no current threat

Line Beards have possibilities, but still don't have their first Natty

Pitt has lots of old Natty's but their last one was in the mid 70's with Johnny Majors.
They may be the ACC's version of Michigan in the B1G.

Irish have lots of Natty's and history but as of today, they do not play football as an ACC member

After that, not sure anybody else has much of a football claim
Duke might have to go back 75 years or so
BC had Flutie but they were not ACC then
VT had Beamer but they never won it all and Beamer is gone
Syracuse got the Natty Ole Miss should have before most on here were born
UNCheats is a basketball school
NCST was a basketball school before ESPN, but not a football school
Wake has a CFB team but Vandy owns them
UVA is Ole Miss for parties but nobody there watches the football

In the regular season, we were told the Big Ten was the best conference.

FIFY

Knew Ohio State and Michigan were over rated
Did not see Sparty falling flat
Nebraska seemed like this years Iowa
Penn State was maybe
Badgers were the flag carrier for the B1G and they were suspect but at least they had the balls top schedule SEC in the early season.

Who was better, though?

He can make the arguement that the ACC was better than the SEC THIS year, but in general I think most would disagree with him.

Truth is, I like a lot of ACC teams and coaches better than a lot of SEC teams. If LSU somehow beamed into the ACC, it would be different but not at all bad. I would love to see great rivalries develop with FSU, Miami, GT, Clemson, Duke, Louisville, Wake Forest, the North Carolina's, and Virginias. And then the occasional bowl or playoff match up with old SEC rivals. Sweet! Plus no SEC Office pro Bama bias anymore.
