to be fair Alabama has rebuilt a couple of fields for HIgh Schools as well including updating the athletic fields at Ha HA and Dee Harts school for the cap on bowl week of practice.

but to be fair, the facility upgrades were standard practice for bama. they did the same thing at their other bowl games. not saying it isnt a brilliant tactic

well and that is my point we used Dr Phillips practice fsacilities when other were available to us that were better suited and it is pretty smart. It is not against the rules and if done like this it helps the schools out that dont have tax payer funds to upgrade. I am all for it if it helps the communities out.

The Bowl paid for all repairs and anything that needed to be taken care of at the fields Bama practiced at during the Bowls, Bama didn't pay for anything. Also Dr. Phillips' was the chosen site by the Bowl and was used by Lsu the previous yr.

Yes, LSU used the same field last year.

Capital one Bowl spokesman Greg Crease said Dr. Phillips High “is the field the SEC traditionally gets,” and noted that UA’s field upgrade “isn’t too much different than any other year.”
quote:

Said Hogan, “Alabama’s practicing at a site that we’ve been using for years for our college teams, and they’re assigned to that site.

“we as a bowl oversee those fields for the SEC and Big Ten teams. we make sure the fields are in as pristine a condition as they can be for them to practice.”

The site fee for use of the school’s facilities is paid by the bowl, not by UA.
quote:

“it doesn’t matter what the number is at either practice site,” Hogan said, “the bowl pays for it. It’s all the bowl’s responsibility. the only thing the team ever pays for is over and above what the field is that they need.”

Hogan said the only thing Alabama is doing above what the bowl normally provides is having temporary shower facilities installed for the week. UA will be charged for the rental fee, and the showers will be removed after the bowl week.
quote:

“when any team is here for the bowl the same things are done,” Magrino said. “the Citrus Bowl comes in and fixes up the field (overseeding), and the Orlando Police Department secures the grounds when the team practices.”
