TENNESSEE TEAM NEWS SEC coach: Jeremy Pruitt will turn Tennessee around ‘quickly’

A coach with extensive SEC experience has no doubt Jeremy Pruitt will have success at Tennessee – and soon.

(This is the first of a series of reports in which coaches who are promised anonymity for their responses give their assessments of Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt and the state of UT’s football program)

A coach with extensive SEC experience has no doubt Jeremy Pruitt will have success at Tennessee – and soon.

“To me, Jeremy is the best defensive mind in the SEC,” said the coach, who is still in the SEC.

That’s strong praise, especially with Alabama’s Nick Saban – Pruitt’s most recent boss – considered a defensive guru and another Saban protégé, Georgia’s Kirby Smart, known for his defensive prowess as well. Still, Pruitt can more than hold his own compared to the two.

“He’s better than Nick and Kirby,” the coach said.

The best news for UT fans is that the rebuild in Knoxville shouldn’t take long.

“He hired a great staff,” the coach said. “They will flip Tennessee back to where they were quickly, within the first two years.”

So they’ll be back to 7-5? The SEC is so fricked.

Not news to anyone around coaching circles, Kirby has never been known for his X and O's.

I have no idea whether he'll be successful in the transition to head coach, but this statement is true.

Saban has said very similar things about Pruitt, fwiw.

Too bad he’s not an offensive genius after that shitshow from last season.

The guy won a championship at every stop, minus UGA. But they can't win anything, so that wasn't on him. He even killed it in HS. Lulz at UGA.

That 2016 defense you had was the nastiest I've ever seen in college football. I mean it was like y'all were using nano blitzes in Madden, just unfair.

The preseason build-up. Tennessee’s time to shine.

Have fun Tennessee. You still have several months to enjoy before the games actually start.

Pruitt is for sure a defensive guru. But you Gotta have the Jimmys and Johns to win in college football, and with Georgia locking down the state and Clemson picking off what little top-tier talent there is in Tennessee, Pruitt is gonna have a tough time getting those blue chippers.

Is this where the board pretends that every Tennessee fan is predicting a national title, like y'all do every year?

No, you meant to say SEC East ... which is just as ridiculous as NC talk for Tennessee.

Is this where the board watches Phat Phil, Serraneux, and a few others incessantly hype Tennessee and post every single article including fan blogs that mention Tennessee in a favorable light? And when they are called out on it, Ricky Bobby and the Tennessee 2nd string posters run in and say it was all a troll and anyone laughing at Phat Phil, et al are rolled up?

Yes. Yes it is.

UF had Treon Harris at QB and got 400 yards on Pruitt's UGA defense.
