Alabama: Yes. (no, Rich Rod was not the primary choice)
Auburn: Yes. (although Kirby Smart was involved)
Arkansas: N/A
LSU : No.
Ole Miss: N/A
Mississippi State: Yes?
Texas A&M : Yes. (for now. soon to be N/A)
Florida: N/A
Georgia: Yes. I'm pretty sure it was Kirby they had locked up before Richt was let go.
Missouri: No idea, probably yes. not sure they really tried to find someone else
Kentucky: Yes, I guess.
South Carolina: Yes. I don't recall other serious names surfacing
Tennessee: N/A
Vanderbilt: ( see Missouri)
Is this list anywhere close to accurate? Help me out rant.

I’d say Kirby was Auburn’s first choice. They interviewed and were prepared to offer him the job if he had agreed not to coach in the National Championship for Alabama.

I thought Rich Rod turned you guys down? What happened with that situation?

Rich Rod did. Legend is that Rita, Rich's wife, visited Tuscaloosa and didn't like it, and was able to talk Rich out of taking the Bama offer.
Rich was only offered, because at the time, it appeared that Saban was not interested.

In the words of Joe Alleva "Coach O was the ONLY choice"

So by your own words, Rich Rod was the first candidate considered and turned down your offer. Then you decided to try others and Saban came into the picture. So the answer to your OP is NO!!!!

LSU always wanted Orgeron.
I can't even type it with a straight face.

You really researched the hell out of that list
Not sure primary is the best word to use but we all know what you’re driving at.

Finebaum made fun of his wife.

AU was also scared that Kirby would bolt for UGA if/when that job opened up. Read an article on it in the week leading up to the DSOR.Don't feel like going and finding the link right now, though.

What am I wrong about? Those facts are widely known, and were even reported by those close to the decision from both sides. Auburn wanted Kirby, but Kirby wanted full control of hiring his staff and also wanted to coach through the bowl game. Auburn said no thanks and moved on to Malzahn.
