So it's alright for other kids to do this, but heaven forbid a recruit that lives close to AU does this.

Rashaan should have checked with the family and fans and got permission before he did anything.

Maybe this should tell other recruits that live near the loveliest village on the plains to get out of Dodge before they think about going to another college.

Seriously, people, all the fanbases have crazies. And, yes, Bama people can stop acting self-righteous about crazy fans. Y'all got 'em and they're no less crazy than anybody else's crazies. And Auburn people? You can likewise stop acting self-righteous about Bama people acting self-righteous, given that the easiest and quickest way to learn about Bama crazies is to wait for Auburn and LSU fans to come post self-righteous threads about Bama crazies (I learned about the death threats, for instance, because Auburn and LSU fans were crowing self-righteously here on the Rant.)

They set his fricking house on fire! They have gone overboard! First they loot his dad's business now they burn down his damn house? I think we need a separate board for the mistreatment of Mr. Evans and his son. Outrage outrage outrage!

Anyone who calls out recruits/players on twitter has serious issues. The Bama fans that do that deserve to get called out as well. I hate the Updyke part of our fan base.

Quick question: Have you read my replies in this thread?

Obviously not, because I have stated that I am not fine with what is happening.

I don't know anything about Deshawn Davis, but do you think he would feel different if his mom or dads boss was an Alabama fan and fired them because he went to Auburn?

That's silly, though. As much as I'm sick of the parade of press conferences and announcements on NSD, he didn't do anything unusual there. Had he committed to Auburn, you'd currently be crowing about the NSD coup Auburn pulled off as they denied Bama a much-desired 5* recruit on National Signing Day.

I don't see how it's so hard to understand that if you don't want people from your hometown to hate you, don't string along the home team only to ditch them for their most hated rival. They want to be adored by everyone around them before they announce their decision, and then they have to deal with the consequences when they disappoint those people.

Why does everyone think he was stringing them along? Stringing along implies that he never had legit interest in playing there, or he knew months ago that he was going elsewhere, but continued to act like he was open. Maybe he was legitimately torn between two schools until right before he decided. I know that isn't a fun conspiracy theory, but it might be the truth.

So he should have made his decision a long time ago when he wasnt ready because Auburn fans would feel strung along?

Like I said you are somewhat full of shite and so is anyone else who buys into that line of thinking.

I will add I think he just needs to move on as well and stop tweeting about it. Those doing this are the winners when he does.

I haven't seen or heard anyone from the Evans being fired. What is this about?

AUBURN | Fans are, well, fanatical. They love their programs and they hate their rivals. That's college football, that's life.

Being a high school football prospect isn't easy these days. Unprecedented exposure means unprecedented criticism, most coming from social media.

The maturity level of a high school senior is tested when they make the decision to commit and sign with one university over another. How they handle the criticism tells a more important story.

Tre Williams is a five-star recruit from Mobile, Ala., and could have signed with any program in the nation. Auburn and Alabama were caught in a heated battle for Williams, who chose to commit and sign with the SEC champion Tigers.

Being an in-state recruit with offers from both Auburn and Alabama is pressure enough. Throw in that Williams is from the battleground city of Mobile and that pressure is ratcheted up even more.

"That should be one thing you're looking ahead to. You have to expect that from rival fans," Williams told AuburnSports.com. "I had to go through that, Deshaun (Davis), Stephen (Roberts) when he flipped from Alabama, we all got the negativity. My response? Who cares. "I heard people saying I would never get a ring, I made a horrible decision, I'm overrated, I'm going to transfer in two years from Auburn.

I heard all of it. My reaction is my grind everyday. Every day when they see my name in the newspaper, when my name pops up for being successful, that's my response instead of responding the wrong way."

Deshaun Davis, like Williams, signed with Auburn and was raised in Mobile. He's dealt with his fair share of fan criticisms after committing to Auburn and even following his ACL injury. Davis handled it with maturity of that of someone older than a 17-year old.

P"Right after I committed, I injured my ACL and I'm having Alabama fans taunting me about my injury," Davis said. "But I don't respond. People are going to talk regardless, I don't really care. I save the comments and use them as motivation, that's it.

"Tre got the same thing. Stephen got it worse because he flipped, Kalvaraz (Bessent), too. It's just another day in the recruiting game. Move on."

Dontavius Russell grew up in Georgia and flipped from the home state school to arch-rival Auburn. Russell has endured the harsh words of a fan base scorned.

"When I said I was going to Georgia, all their fans were happy," Russell said. "As soon as I flipped, I was the worst player ever and I wasn't good enough for Georgia. My friends and I laughed about it, I never took it seriously. How can you take that seriously? I sure wasn't going to complain about it on Twitter. It just didn't matter to me.

"People cussed me out on Twitter, people called me an idiot, dumb, stuff like that. When I was younger, I was taught not to let others' actions impact my actions. They didn't get a reaction from me."
