How is it his fault a bunch of juniors didnt stay? They were ready for the NFL, unfortunately when you have 2 straight years of losing a lot of talent on one side of the ball, it's going to affect it negatively no matter where you coach at. No coach can overcome that kind of turnover in talent on one side of the ball.

Alabama has juniors leave every year for the NFL. Yet we are in the hunt every year.
Great coaches just reload.

Beckham or Odell could have played defense... Wasn't a big need for both of them on offense.. Would have been defensive beasts too.
OBJ is so good he's two people now! GOAT

That's true but you can't use this excuse year after year. These kids are leaving early because they are top shelf NFL talent. Losing out on a season of that talent doesn't negate the fact that you have continuous three year cycles of it at your disposal.
I like Miles but he underacheives given what he has at his disposal.

Defensive problems. Most educated college football fans understand this.

Cris was on Mike & Mike just now talking about Bengals @ Steelers and Jeremy Hill came up.
With all the running back talent and Beckham Jr he wasted a lot of talent.
Even joked that eating all that grass wasn't good for your head.
So looks like tRant isn't the only place people think Les isn't up to par with all that talent.

It's not an excuse, it's the reason our defense underperformed so badly last year, it's a fact.
I would LOVE for our juniors that arent high draft picks to come back, dont get me wrong. We could have an amazing team next year if our OL comes back instead of declaring for the NFL.

So I was right.
So basically, it's about average, and considering we have John Chavis, we expect to win when the offense puts up an average performance.
Negative.
The average was 28.1 points per game in conference play in 2013.
The individual talent on the 2013 offense was stellar, and no one is arguing to the contrary.
However, as a unit, they were not spectacular. They were 6th in scoring, 7th in total yards, 9th in first downs per game, and 6th in redzone scoring percentage. The unit itself was nothing more than an above-average offense on par with 2011 Alabama.

Some of the ones y'all have lost never should have left because they weren't even performing well enough in college, let alone well enough to impress the pros.

Just because we dont run an up tempo style of offense. Miles goal has never been to run 90 plays a game. He does not want to expose his defense more, especially one that wasn't very good in 2013. The fact is that offense had a 3000 yard passer, 1400 yard rusher and 2 1000 yard WRs which has NEVER been done before in SEC history.

Miles is cut from the same cloth as Houston Nutt and Mack Brown.

Maybe LSU used up all their luck in 2007 by winning the national championship after losing to both Arkansas and Kentucky in the same season. The luckiest play of the Georgia game in 2013 also involved the referees giving Georgia credit for a touchdown they really didn't score
I'm sorry, but all that luck pales in comparison the luck a team that didn't win their conference, let alone their division, and then resorted to having to beg and push media to be allowed rematch.

Les Miles has wasted almost as much talent as Mark Richt.
But thanks to the good fortune of 2007 he has his ring which has shielded him from a lot of the underachieving attention he probably deserves.

Outside of Anthony Johnson on the defensive side, who else would fall into this? Let me give you list the last 3 years of our early entrants:
2011 Morris Claiborne CB 1st (6) Dallas Cowboys
Michael Brockers DT 1st (12) St. Louis Rams
Rueben Randle WR 2nd (63) New York Giants
2012 Barkevious Mingo DE 1st (6) Cleveland Browns
Eric Reid S 1st (18) San Francisco 49ers
Kevin Minter LB 2nd (45) Arizona Cardinals
Bennie Logan DT 3rd (67) Philadelphia Eagles
Tyrann Mathieu DB 3rd (69) Arizona Cardinals
Sam Montgomery DE 3rd (95) Houston Texans
Tharold Simon CB 5th (138) Seattle Seahawks
Spencer Ware RB 6th (194) Seattle Seahawks
Chris Faulk OT Undrafted
Michael Ford RB Undrafted
Brad Wing P Undrafted
2013 Odell Beckham Jr. WR 1st (12) New York Giants
Ego Ferguson DT 2nd (51) Chicago Bears
Jeremy Hill RB 2nd (55) Cincinnati Bengals
Jarvis Landry WR 2nd (63) Miami Dolphins
Trai Turner OG 3rd (92) Carolina Panthers
Anthony Johnson DT Undrafted
Every single defensive guy on the list drafted 3rd round or earlier, expect Anthony Johnson who had no business going pro early - but still made a roster, and Tharold Simon in the 5th round, who is a good player in his own right.

Michigan didn't get a rematch in 2006...

This is a true statement. Chris Faulk, Michael Ford, and Freak Johnson come to mind.

Do you not read? I said the offense was extremely talented, on an individual level. However, taken as a whole, they are merely above-average.
They reminded me of the Atlanta Falcons; supreme talent across the board, especially at the skill positions, but they can't play as a unit, which explains their average team statistics.
