Paying players (allegedy) when every other serious program is paying players is not close to having a local bumpkin judge sign a restraining order to let your college basketball team play an NBA player. Sorry.

Tuscaloosa County Judge of course.

Um, do you understand how jurisdiction works? Where else would this have been filed?

Second most shameful thing is their weak justification as if it's apples and apples.

Other teams are playing instantly eligible guys from overseas, why shouldn’t Bama?

It’s 3D chess to finally force the schools to breakaway from the NCAA and declare if you’ve played professionally at any level anywhere in the world, you’ll be deemed ineligible. Oats and Alabama are trying to save intercollegiate athletics.

Not surprisingly, they're doing a really shitty job.

I think the NCAA has lost in court pretty much every single case for the last 10 years

Not sure if Alabama or Ole Miss is more pathetic with these rigged lawsuits

But they were not professionals. Same thing Indiana did in football.

Half of Illinois’ roster has played professional basketball

People are more mad about Bediako getting 2.5 years of eligibility than they are about dudes playing meaningful minutes in 6 different basketball seasons

I see this as a win-win:

It helps my alma mater and it heightens the contradictions inherent to this system and will further the necessity that lawmakers act to provide the NCAA with a legal carve out to enforce as many rules from the old ways as possible minus compensation.

Nobody’s happy about any of it. But until the rules say you can’t, you’re stupid to not take advantage.

Why not pay a low cost roster just good enough to get in the tournament, then grab three or four mercenary NBA guys to win six straight for you?

Pay them 300K per game, and win it all on the cheap.

Next time his coach tells him he is not ready for the NBA maybe he should listen to him instead of listening to his buddies.
