I bet without having a name brand school to help in recruiting he wouldn't last long.

He has his own brand now, so he would get some good players but not the level of where his is now.

Saban would never win without a talent advantage. He lost to ULM at Bama and still had more talent. He lost to UAB at LSU. It shows pretty much everytime he plays a well coached team or team that matched up well and takes the talent advantage away. Even after all these #1 classes in a row.

UGA and Clemson were poorly coached untalented teams last year?

He'd still beat Auburn more often than not at Vanderbilt. Regardless of coach, Vanderbilt beats Auburn.

They don't have the talent Bama does and aren't coached by the almighty. Auburn fits in there too and lost to UCF. Those teams took away the talent advantage by coaching and it showed.

Saban at a small school playing quality teams every week wouldn't end well for him.

Basically none of Saban's wins count. His very few losses, especially those from 11-18 years ago are the real Saban.

Would someone be better at a school like Vandy or UK than Saban being at a school like Vandy or UK? I think not.

The OP asked if Saban would make it at a school like Vandy. Saban hasn't upset many teams (even before he was expected to win every game) but has been beaten several times by teams that had no business beating that much talent. So at Vandy its not likely he is going to beat anyone nor ever have the talent to compete outside the East.

It's not coincidence he wasn't nearly as highly thought of before he got all the talent every year.

Depends on how much cash the boosters are willing to put in the bags. Oh, and if the local Dodge dealer is willing to play ball.

This scenario would not end well for any coach, so congrats on that point

Saban has more wins and a much greater percentage against #1's, the Top 5 and the Top 10 than any coach in history by far LINK

Bama has been the underdog twice since 2009. 09 Florida and Georgia a few years ago. Saban is 2-0

How many were before all the talent advantage of Bama? Most coaches would win that much with that many players and playing the bottom of the East every year.

It still doesn't prove he would be worth a crap at Vandy like the OP asked.

Nick Saban would never consider taken a job at either.
