Really random thought this morning, but I can barely understand his slurred and jumbled speech when it's warm outside. Can't imagine what it's going to be like in a month when temps go down and his 86 year old lips get numb.

He was entertaining for a while, I guess, but he needs to hang it up after this season. I feel like Herbstreit babysits him every Saturday morning.

Surely I can't be the only one that thinks this?

He should have retired in like 2018. What they have done to him in 19 and 21 is sad. 2020 he was ok b it that’s because he was at his house and they could stage it.

Yea theyre fighting desperately to keep him going. I understand he probably doesn't want to hang it up and they're trying to let him want to leave on his own terms, but its pretty hard to watch. I feel like he's going to die on the set of GameDay one of these days. Like they're going to be coming out of a break or segment and come back to a corso'less set and be told he passed while we were on a break.

Having had my mom move in her last 2 years of life due to dementia, all I can say is that Corso appears to be enjoying himself and is still able to function but sometimes has a hard time getting his thoughts out. I believe it’s better for him to still have a purpose in life vs forcing him to leave. Once you take that away from them they die. But when it becomes embarrassing, it’s time to move on. So far I still enjoy and appreciate his input.

So you don't think it's embarrassing yet? I squirm in my seat sometimes.

Didn’t he announce retirement, something like 3 or 4 years ago, and they had this big production for him the last show? Then poof… he is on set the first show the next season and been there since? And no one said a word about it.

It reminds me of ABC propping up Dick Clark post-stroke to host the New Year's Eve telecast. Heartwarming at first, cringeworthy afterwards.

They could keep Corso in a limited capacity, like inviting him to participate in the picks and doing the mascot headgear reveal (with help). That's all he really should be doing at this point.

Without Kirk he REALLY struggles. With Kirk, he’s able to get through it for the most part. I really respect Kirk for leaning into that role and helping out Corso in those tough spots where he’s struggling to get his thoughts out, it’s very kind of him.

The last few years especially you can see that Kirk is legitimately a great guy who loves college football. I guess I can just see him cut loose a little more and lean into the silliness of the sport and what makes it special. I think all the changes to make it more corporate are something he definitely notices and doesn’t care for but goes along with it. I think he also is genuinely friends with Lee Corso. They’ve worked side by side for almost 3 decades now.

No not yet, but how you think about things is your opinion, so I get that. I believe that he still enjoys his time there and I believe that his team enjoys his input also. He is still cognizant of whats going on around him and still answers questions. I also believe that most people laugh with him and not at him or his disease.

All joking aside, Kirk is actually one of the few analysts/personalities I enjoy either calling a game or watching on Gameday. I also have enjoyed Corso over the years and it is sad to see his decline.

I'm a financial advisor and CFP(R) professional and I have seen probably 6-10 of my clients decline like Corso is. Incredibly difficult for the family and friends to witness.

While I do think he needs to hang it up and maybe come on for just the picks, like others have stated, I appreciate what he's brought to the set and I especially appreciate how Kirk has handled it and taken ownership of helping him along, it seems.

The time pressure put on him AND the super-passionate coach speak - makes his slippage more pronounced. He just becomes a sprinkler system trying to get out his one-liners. With that said, he is a very likeable old man

College Gameday as a whole has dropped for me. Maybe it's a nostalgia thing, but Corso not being as sharp as he used to be hurts the program. I think Pat Mcafee could be an awesome addition to that show.

I agree, IMO he should be doing pre-recorded special segments or just the traditional final mascot picks.

God love him, but it really is hard to watch.

Corso is cringy now at his age, and stumbles through dialogue too much live on air. Herbstreet and Howard often help prompt him or pick up on his words to help him through or out of more embarrassment.
