Why is everyone talking about a defensive coordinator job that isn't even open?

Does it really matter that much ... this whole Boom Champ thing?

Yeah, Lorenzo Ward is still their defensive coordinator. They have no vacancies at this time and there has been no hint at anyone being fired.

Because it's more or less assured that it will be. Trust me, I'd be thrilled if Carolina kept this staff together. Carolina's D was garbage this year (even in their game against us).

Spurrier only said any changes wouldn't happen over the next few weeks.

Does Boom strike you as the type of person that is going to kiss Jay Jacobs butt and give him a second chance after JJ punked him?

Auburn is being used as a tool to get more money from TAMU or USC.

Get a clue Auburn.

aTm is not even in the picture ... except for the fact that they, if anyone, may have been used to negotiate more money from SCAR or Auburn.

SCAR may be using the transition time (while Boom is still in the Turk Caicos) to make nice with some recruits, in this highly rated recruiting class, before their specific coaches, (who recruited them), are demoted or let-go. It appears that the staff are revisiting all of the recruits, two at a time, to lock-down commitments regardless of how the next couple of weeks play-out.

The fight for Boom, if it is not already over as of yesterday/last night, is still between SCAR and Auburn and is no longer a money thing ... but other things, other considerations and concessions including bringing other coaches with him.

We'll soon see how it all went yesterday - but Jimmy Sexton is the key player in all of this and Boom's personal face-to-face involvement has not been necessary thus far - at least where SCAR has been concerned. Besides, Turk Caicos is a hope, skip and a jump from SC ... we've probably got more boosters with more private planes living and hopping down there than anyone else in the conference. There's a whole stretch of beach down there known as Little Charleston ... so it would not be out of the realm of possibility that we've had people down there camping-out and working Boom while staring out at the horizon over the water along the beach.

SCAR appears to be in a good position right now - but until he actually signs it doesn't mean squat.

If, IF, he does sign with SCAR there will be no HCIW provision in his contract ... Tanner is not going along with that regardless of how he dances around the question. And who could blame him.

With regard to how our current staff will be handled ... it would not be unheard of to demote Ward to co-DC and name Boom co-DC and Asst HC. As far as the other assistants are concerned, who knows, it's all speculation.

Bruce Pearl won't be Auburn next head basketball coach, correct?
