teams like Miami and Notre Dame who don't play anyone and will probably lose in round 1 or 2.
Notre Dame beat Georgia in 2024. Miami beat Ole Miss in 2025. Maybe a light schedule (and good luck with injuries) helps in the post season.

Love the analysis, however you are going off time of ranking and not the final AP ranking.
UGA and Texas both only played 3 final ranked teams (including only 2 for UGA before the conference title game) in 05.
Sorry but your analysis is flawed. Only reason Colorado didnt end up in the 05 poll is because Texas beat them in conf title game 70-3.
Using your logic if Ole Miss beats Texas this weekend and Texas loses every game the rest of the season and ends at 4-8 would OU, FL, and Ole Miss get end of year credit for beating a "ranked" Texas team?

by stitchop,
conventional wisdom says that a brutal schedule, such as a SEC season prepares a team for playoff and championship game.

My sentence seems to have a good structure.
The subject is clear, and easily understood.
Most people with grammar school level instruction, and without mental deficiencies, should be able to comprehend.

Maybe the SEC should just stop tackling so hard against each other or play flag football until the playoffs. Then you’d surely steam roll all these other teams.
Or they should just crown an SEC team the National Champ in August so those tough games you play can’t be used against you.

the last three National Champions
2025: Indiana
2024: Ohio State
2023: Michigan
is this enough to establish that a trend is developing?
cupcake schedules and Championship win

For almost 20 years, Saban propped up the SEC because either he won it all, or you beat him and won it all. He retired because he saw how NIL leveled the playing field. B1G can pay players now too and unexpectedly, have gone on their own little run.
Might as well embrace the new way of things and up your admission standards so future graduates have money to donate.

What are we even arguing?
I agree teams are getting away with cupcake scheduling and the CFP committee has absolutely screwed rational and unbiased team selections for just going primarily off W-L record. Look at BYU this year, are they any good, is ND any good? We will never know because they dont schedule anyone difficult let alone have to play back to back to back difficult opponents.
Yes, cupcakes is the way to go, its just BS (look at IU) that CFP committee has allowed teams to get away with it and its an absolute middle finger to the SEC

That's why the SEC should be playing a 7 game conference schedule
Well, our 7th game will be Vandy this weekend. If we win, we should be crowned champions in this league based on that logic.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way.
The schedule is what it is this season; bitching about it doesn't change it.
As Stein would say, if you are scared of your schedule, go to church.

The secret sauce we see now is to have a patsy schedule filled with big10 or acc teams
