Of course, you can take the angle that Luicci is trying to get Schloss a raise.. and maybe that is true, but if Schloss wasn't interested, CDC would have already gone a different direction (with Pierce or otherwise)..
Unless it is Vitello or 1 of the guys that just finished..
Why in the world would CDC make a public offer to Schloss if he was going to get turned down?
If these two are friends.. that won't happen.

You heard Schloss say last night he wants a new ballpark. All this will do is make teams give them more money and have them spend more money (which they have) on facilities.
So congratulations you’ve just made it harder for the crappy Pac12 coach you’ll actually have to hire and because of your actions you’ll pay that crappy coach what we had to match to pay ours.

This is a complete lateral move for Schloss if it is even true. A&M has everything Texas has. Literally everything. Austin is cooler than college station but is that really a reason to leave?

Can whatever Texas offer Schloss in theory be worth it to him to be forever hated by half the state? Just seems like a huge pain the arse to deal with for the rest of your time coaching. Plus its not like A&M couldn't match what Texas offers. If anything he's using it as leverage to secure more NIL funding and get more in guarenteed money for the stadium.

There are a million reasons outside of money that could play a role in this decision.. It won't be about money imo.

imo, CDC isn't going to pursue Schloss and potentially get turned down.. if he is pursuing.. there is a verbal agreement already in place..

KR hasn't changed his tune yet. And with A&M making the finals, Schloss will be coaching for his first title.

Guys like Looch & Rogers aren’t going to publicly state things with certainty without being certain. If there is a chance, they’ll hedge like crazy. Because otherwise they’ll lose credibility and being roasted badly online.

1) If the target isn't still playing.. why wouldn't it be announced yet?
I'm sure there might be a reason, but I can't think of 1. The portal is open and players are making moves. Pierce isn't doing anything, but he can't leave without forfeiting his payout.. and he probably would owe some if he just left for another job..
2) Sullivan, Link & Mingione just finished, so maybe they are the target
if this is the case, it should be announced soon
3) Vitello
If the target is Vitello, then perhaps CDC plans to swing after he is done, perhaps he has a backup plan in place, or perhaps he intends to roll with Pierce next year if it falls through. It's also possible he already agreed to a deal..
4) Schloss
if the target is Schloss, and if CDC and Schloss are truly friends who take family vacations together (as reported on TA), then it doesn't really make sense for CDC to pursue if he doesn't know the answer. An initial discussion happens you ask what Schloss wants, and then you either agree to his demands.. or you don't.. There is no back and forth, no renegotiation.. There is no gray area on this one imo.
The only question that remains.. Who is the target?

Agreed IMO. CDC likely is using this series to see who he will hire as the next Longhorn baseball coach.
When the topic of our massive facilities renovation came up, Schloss even indicated that he’s always wanted to coach on Astroturf like it’s the 1980s and hoped we would switch our field over. Further indicators/nuggets that TEXAS is sitting pretty for him. Longhorn supporters need to let the next few days play out and they won’t be disappointed

I don't know anything.. maybe my speculations are completely wrong, but I think the rationale I have used in a post above makes sense.. but it doesn't say who the candidate is and I have no idea what CDC is thinking or not thinking.. The guy gets shite done and I'm sure I will be happy either way.
