ncorrect. It was around $21,000. The 40K number is the fine the NCAA levied, they basically doubled the amount for their penalty.

The probation they were under, was because of a self reported violation in basketball, that resulted in no penalties
So Bama was not under probation in 2005 for violations regarding paying three recruits
You are off your game today hunter.

students infractions totalled around 21k. The NCAA fined Bama double that as part of the penalty.

O rly. you might want to re read

Dee said the athletes improperly obtained textbooks worth approximately $40,000. Athletes get free textbooks with their scholarships, but some were accused of getting additional textbooks for
As I recall the exact number was around 43,900

Did you not see my quote. Obtained textbooks worth 40,000

with a total retail value of approximately $40,000. Approximately $21,950 of this total was obtained by student-athletes identified by the institution as "intentional wrong doers."
21K unintentionally, and what the fine was based off of. The rest was not known wrong doing as found by the NCAA and repaid by athletes and the ones that were 100 or less.

This has become a pissing contest about text books. Consider the source.

I think you are confusing the quote. the intentional wrong doer part is not all the 201 athletes only the 22 intentional wrong doers athletes. the total was over 40k about 20k for the 189 and about 20k for the 22

Who gives a s### if it was 243,900 in textbooks. The infraction was that something of value was improperly received. The report says straight up that the books weren't traded for cash so the value of the books is really immaterial. Again, this isn't even a major violation if not for the repeat violator window.

Good God you're one obsessed little barner. What part of 21,000 being the total amount obtained illegally, and 40,000 being the fine, do you not understand?

umm apparently you are not very good at comprehension. 21k done by the intentional wrong doers(22 players) who went above and beyond AND 20k+ by the others(189 players) The total fine was equal to the total amount of the total of the text books taken against the NCAA rules.
NOT DOUBLE. I am not sure where hunter invented that little tidbit

4. The institution shall pay a fine of $43,900 to the NCAA. This figure represents the approximate value of the benefits obtained by the "intentional wrongdoers" ($21,950) multiplied by a factor of two. ($21,950 X 2 = $43,900).
From the actual report. Get out of the habit of hiding your head in the sand and read little bit.

Not so brilliant now, is it? I'm sure you'll say the NCAA report is wrong now though, and that they changed it to get at Au fans.

It won't be noticed, it'll just blend in with the skidmarks Chiz has left on them where they've been ankle deep in his arse.

Your mistake is thinking I was complimenting him on the content of his posts. I don't give a shite about Bama or what happened several years ago. So nice fail on whatever you were trying to accomplish with your post to me.
