Honestly haven’t. Country music stopped being decent over ten years ago

Are you honestly comparing Alan Jackson and whoever Chris Stapleton is to JayZ and Beyonce?

Is that a joke?

Jackson had like 20-30 #1 hits on the country billboard.

Stapleton has had 2 albums so far they've hit #1 and #2 on all charts, not just country. They're both huge names.

For the most part I agree but still surprised you haven't heard from other people or just in general.

Nobody outside of the south listens to country. It’s garbage.

I don't really want to defend country music but you are going to make me with statements like this sadly.

You’re a fricking idiot. I’m sure. Every person in Iowa is jamming Beyoncé while they drive their rural commutes to work.

I’d be willing to bet there are more people in Iowa who listen to Jay Z or Beyonce than any country artist

There’s a reason Taylor Swift dumped country. It doesn’t sell.

Well... I never figured you for someone to just fling shite against the wall so hard with no basis in reality.

Country Music infogram based on Youtube data

So in 8 subcategories of country music, we only really take a decided advantage in Southern Rock (as one would expect... though Montana is apparently throwing down on some Skynrd... ) and the fricking atrocious category of Country Rap...

Because that somehow invalidates the relative data? If you've got detailed infographics for Spotify data or another streaming platform, please share... these were simply readily available.

ETA: Haven't seen a more recent dataset, but at least as of a year ago, Youtube was still head and shoulders above other streaming platforms in popularity...

LINK

quote:

According to the 2017 report, video takes up 55% of all time dedicated to on-demand streaming. Incredibly, YouTube is responsible for 46% of all on-demand streaming time.

For comparison, all other on-demand streaming channels, such as Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Deezer, Napster and the handful of others that have been able to collect even a minimal number of either free or paid users, make up the rest of listening time (just 45% combined), so it’s clear that none of them come even close to matching the ubiquity of YouTube.

According to the report, 85% of YouTube users went there for music in just the past month (from when the information was compiled). That adds up to about 1.3 billion people—several times larger than the total number of listeners who have signed up for a proper streaming platform like Spotify (which now has over 100 million users) or Apple Music (which is approaching 30 million).

going to have to disagree here baw.

Although not the same "country"

Jason Aldean just sold out MSG and Kenny Chesney with a few other sold out Metlife.

It's poppy now not like Alan Jackson or Stapleton (who has sold out venues up north now days) but people listen.
