Here's some worn thin announcer stuff I could live without :
"Generational" , "freak athlete" , "unbelievable catch" ,
"kick splits the uprights" , "real workhorse" ----- and
one some years ago you heard a lot but not so much
anymore with concussion a front page issue ,
"he got his bell rung on that hit".

But yeah I’ve been waiting football for decades and don’t recall hearing this term until the last year or two.

I don’t think the Big 12 played complimentary football with their defenses, so it actually makes sense you didn’t hear it.

It is a term chickenshit coaches use to play conservative football. I should know because Sun Belt Billy uses it all the time.
